Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how common oral Candida spp. is in hemodialysis (HD) patients and its links to inflammation and atherosclerosis.* -
  • Among 69 patients, over half (53.6%) showed oral Candida colonization, which correlated with elevated inflammation markers (hsCRP and IL-6) and lower HDL cholesterol levels.* -
  • The findings suggest that oral Candida colonization is connected not only to chronic inflammation but also to an increased risk of coronary artery disease in HD patients, alongside traditional risk factors like age and diabetes.*

It can be difficult to achieve a natural appearance in the anterior region with implant-supported restorations because metal components may show through the soft tissue. Zirconia implants, therefore, should be considered as an alternative treatment for improved esthetics. The goal of this clinical report was to evaluate a new 2-piece zirconia implant system for the maxillary anterior region.
