Introduction: Pain is reported as one of the most troubling symptoms for people with Parkinson's (PwP); however, the literature exploring their lived experience of pain and how to manage it is limited. Pain affects PwP at all stages of their condition and can fluctuate and change over time. Therefore, it is pertinent to speak to PwP to understand their experiences of pain to inform the development of tailored behavioural interventions to manage pain.

Protein nanoparticle vaccines induce potent neutralizing antibody responses against MERS-CoV.

Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a betacoronavirus that causes severe respiratory illness in humans. There are no licensed vaccines against MERS-CoV and only a few candidates in phase I clinical trials. Here, we develop MERS-CoV vaccines utilizing a computationally designed protein nanoparticle platform that has generated safe and immunogenic vaccines against various enveloped viruses, including a licensed vaccine for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

This paper describes how the Thrive clinic services have been altered between 2019 and 2022 as a result of COVID-19.

The impact and value of the Parkinson's nurse specialist to people with Parkinson's and their care partners: a grounded theory qualitative study.

Background: Where available, Parkinson's Nurse Specialists (PNS) provide a range of care, support, guidance, and advocacy for people with Parkinson's (PwP), and, where appropriate, their care partners (CP). Parkinson's is a complex and progressive condition. Consequently, evaluating health outcomes is not a reliable method to understand the value and impact of PNS.

Relacorilant or surgery improved hemostatic markers in Cushing syndrome.

Purpose: Glucocorticoid-mediated hypercoagulability can persist in patients with endogenous Cushing syndrome (CS) after curative surgery and may transiently worsen early postoperatively. These studies aimed to characterize coagulation markers at baseline in patients with CS and the impact of relacorilant or remission post-surgery in an open-label, phase 2 study (NCT02804750) and a retrospective, longitudinal, surgical cohort study.

Methods: In the relacorilant study, 34 patients received relacorilant (100-200 mg/day for up to 12 weeks or 250-400 mg/day for up to 16 weeks) and had postbaseline data.

Spectroscopic techniques to probe magnetic anisotropy and spin-phonon coupling in metal complexes.

Magnetism of molecular quantum materials such as single-molecule magnets (SMMs) has been actively studied for potential applications in the new generation of high-density data storage using SMMs and quantum information science. Magnetic anisotropy and spin-phonon coupling are two key properties of d- and f-metal complexes. Here, phonons refer to both intermolecular and intramolecular vibrations.

What is available to support pain management in Parkinson's: a scoping review protocol.

Objective: A scoping review will be undertaken to examine and map the available evidence that has been produced in relation to pain management in Parkinson's, with a focus on behavioural interventions, resources and/or how professionals support people with Parkinson's self-management of pain.

Methods: This review will be based on the methodological framework given by Arksey and O'Malley's (2005), including enhancements by Levac et al., Peters et al.

Tlx1 regulates acinar and duct development in mouse salivary glands.

Tlx1 encodes a transcription factor expressed in several craniofacial structures of developing mice. The role of Tlx1 in salivary gland development was examined using morphological and immunohistochemical analyses of Tlx1 null mice. Tlx1 is expressed in submandibular and sublingual glands but not parotid glands of neonatal and adult male and female C57Bl/6J (Tlx1 ) mice.

Relacorilant, a Selective Glucocorticoid Receptor Modulator in Development for the Treatment of Patients With Cushing Syndrome, Does Not Cause Prolongation of the Cardiac QT Interval.

Objective: To assess the effect of relacorilant, a selective glucocorticoid receptor modulator under investigation for the treatment of patients with endogenous hypercortisolism (Cushing syndrome [CS]), on the heart rate-corrected QT interval (QTc).

Methods: Three clinical studies of relacorilant were included: (1) a first-in-human, randomized, placebo-controlled, ascending-dose (up to 500 mg of relacorilant) study in healthy volunteers; (2) a phase 1 placebo- and positive-controlled thorough QTc (TQT) study of 400 and 800 mg of relacorilant in healthy volunteers; and (3) a phase 2, open-label study of up to 400 mg of relacorilant administered daily for up to 16 weeks in patients with CS. Electrocardiogram recordings were taken, and QTc change from baseline (ΔQTc) was calculated.

Influences on paramedic prescribing: student and prescriber perspectives.

Background: Paramedic prescribing has been permitted in legislation from 2018. In 2019 one of the first cohorts of paramedic prescribers in the country was invited to share their experiences, thoughts and perceptions around the new and evolving role of paramedic prescribing practice.

Aim: To explore the opinions of student and newly qualified paramedic prescribers regarding the impact and effectiveness of paramedic independent prescribing on their clinical practice.

Computational design of non-porous, pH-responsive antibody nanoparticles.

Programming protein nanomaterials to respond to changes in environmental conditions is a current challenge for protein design and important for targeted delivery of biologics. We describe the design of octahedral non-porous nanoparticles with the three symmetry axes (four-fold, three-fold, and two-fold) occupied by three distinct protein homooligomers: a designed tetramer, an antibody of interest, and a designed trimer programmed to disassemble below a tunable pH transition point. The nanoparticles assemble cooperatively from independently purified components, and a cryo-EM density map reveals that the structure is very close to the computational design model.

Objective: To evaluate changes in interictal burden with galcanezumab versus placebo in patients with episodic (EM) or chronic migraine (CM).

Background: The disruptive effects of migraine occur both during attacks (ictal period) and between attacks (interictal period), affecting work, school, family, and social life. Migraine clinical trials typically assess ictal burden endpoints, neglecting interictal burden.

Measuring light regularity: sleep regularity is associated with regularity of light exposure in adolescents.

Study Objectives: Light is the main time cue for the human circadian system. Sleep and light are intrinsically linked; light exposure patterns can influence sleep patterns and sleep can influence light exposure patterns. However, metrics for quantifying light regularity are lacking, and the relationship between sleep and light regularity is underexplored.

Beyond minority stress: Toward a multidimensional psychology of trans/nonbinary gender.

Although research that documents minority stress caused to LGBTQ + people supports needed advocacy, it can concomitantly cause harm to communities by portraying them as depleted and powerless. This review article assesses if and how researchers who study minority stress also center interpersonal functions of gender expression that are agentic for trans/nonbinary (TNB) people. These functions were coded in the qualitative research related to minority stress for TNB people over the last five years.

Syntheses of Group 5 Amide Amidinates and Their Reactions with Water: Different Reactivities of Nb(V) and Ta(V) Complexes.

Chemistries of Nb(V) and Ta(V) compounds are essentially identical as a result of lanthanide contraction. Hydrolysis of M(NMe) (M = Nb, Ta), for example, yields [M(μ-O)(NMe)] (M = Nb, ; Ta, ) reported earlier. The similar reactivities of Nb(V) and Ta(V) compounds make it challenging, for example, to separate the two metals from their minerals.

Evaluation of Low Volume Roads Surfaced with 100% RAP Millings.

The sustainability of roadway construction has rapidly been gaining attention within the pavement industry. The pavements examined in this study are in a Northern Nevada county with many of the roadways categorized as low volume roads. The county began surfacing rural roads with 100% Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) millings, without any design considerations for decades.

The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Informal Caregivers of People With Parkinson's Disease Residing in the UK: A Qualitative Study.

Informal caregivers can experience various demands when providing care and support for People with Parkinson's disease (PwP) in their own homes. The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 and public health strategies employed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 have presented challenges to the general populace on a global basis. The present study used a qualitative research design to explore how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted informal caregivers in their role of providing care for PwP in their own homes.
