Nurses comprise the largest group of health professionals yet are underrepresented in health news media, depriving the public of important perspectives on health and healthcare and undermining the public's perceptions of nurses as experts. The George Washington University School of Nursing's Center for Health Policy and Media Engagement partnered with the American Organization for Nursing Leadership to invite a small group of chief nursing officers to participate in a workshop aimed at building an organization-specific strategy for sharing nurses' expertise with the public through media engagement. Participants completed a preworkshop survey, participated in two 4-hour workshops to explore the factors that contribute to nurses' invisibility as media sources, and developed a strategic plan for ensuring that their healthcare organizations are able to recognize and share their nurses' expertise with media.

CD16A polymorphisms conferring increased affinity for IgG positively correlate with clinical outcomes during monoclonal antibody therapy for lymphoma, linking increased binding affinity with increased therapeutic potential via ADCC. We have previously reported on the FcγR fusion CD64/16A consisting of the extracellular region of CD64 (FcγRI), a high-affinity Fc receptor normally expressed by myeloid cells, and the transmembrane/cytoplasmic regions of CD16A, to create a highly potent and novel activating fusion receptor.

The IQ* TiO2 Working Group has previously shown that titanium dioxide has unique properties which are necessary for its function in these formulations and noted that, as the potential replacements lack the semi-conductor properties, high refractive index and whiteness of E171, it might be hard to replicate these properties with alternative materials. To improve ease of use, this study aimed to generate: (i) streamlined models that match FIGO performance and; (ii) visual-decision aids (nomograms) for guiding management.
Methods: Using training (n = 4191) and validation datasets (n = 144) of GTN patients from two UK specialist centres, logistic regression analysis generated two-factor models for cross-validation and exploration.
Background: Antibody therapies can direct natural killer (NK) cells to tumor cells, tumor-associated cells, and suppressive immune cells to mediate antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). This antigen-specific effector function of human NK cells is mediated by the IgG Fc receptor CD16A (FcγRIIIA). Preclinical and clinical studies indicate that increasing the binding affinity and avidity of CD16A for antibodies improves the therapeutic potential of ADCC.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The advent of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapies has transformed the treatment of hematological malignancies; however, broader therapeutic success of CAR T cells has been limited in solid tumors because of their frequently heterogeneous composition. Stress proteins in the MICA and MICB (MICA/B) family are broadly expressed by tumor cells following DNA damage but are rapidly shed to evade immune detection.
Methods: We have developed a novel CAR targeting the conserved α3 domain of MICA/B (3MICA/B CAR) and incorporated it into a multiplexed-engineered induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived natural killer (NK) cell (3MICA/B CAR iNK) that expressed a shedding-resistant form of the CD16 Fc receptor to enable tumor recognition through two major targeting receptors.
The performance of pharmaceutical dosage forms relies heavily on the characteristics of the excipients that are incorporated into the drug product during the manufacturing process. Therefore, it is imperative that formulators are able to accurately and completely specify the key chemical and physical properties of those excipients. Current approaches to describing excipients are outdated and inadequate for the needs of the 21 century and in this article we highlight the benefits of a more systematic and comprehensive approach to specifying and controlling excipient properties.
