Background: Single leg squat (SLS) is an important motion commonly observed in sports. Excessive dynamic knee valgus (DKV) during SLS may increase non-contact knee injury risks particularly in physically active females. As muscular strength plays crucial role in controlling DKV, the present study aims to evaluate the correlation between hip strength and knee frontal plane angle during SLS among females with and without excessive DKV.

Comparison of Pathologic Tumor Necrosis of Conventional Versus Ultrahypofractionated Preoperative Radiation Therapy in Localized Extremity Soft Tissue Sarcoma and Its Correlation With Clinical Outcomes.

Purpose: We aimed to determine if ultrahypofractionated radiation therapy (UHYPO-RT) delivering 6 Gy x 5 fractions yields similar tumor necrosis compared with conventional radiation therapy (CONV-RT) with 2 Gy x 25 fractions in soft tissue sarcoma. The clinical significance of tumor necrosis on loco-regional recurrence-free survival (LRFS), distant disease-free survival (DDFS), and overall survival (OS) were assessed.

A Giant Eyelid Molluscum Contagiosum Revealing an HIV Infection: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Molluscum contagiosum (MC) is a common benign cutaneous viral infection. It can affect any part of the skin with a high propensity for facial skin, especially in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) patients with low CD4 count. We report a case of a 16-year-old female patient who presented with a giant isolated right upper eyelid MC lesion that served as the first clinical indicator of her HIV infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

Noncontractible loop states from a partially flat band in a photonic borophene lattice.

Flat band systems are commonly associated with compact localized states (CLSs) that arise from the macroscopic degeneracy of eigenstates at the flat band energy. However, in the case of singular flat bands, conventional localized flat band states are incomplete, leading to the existence of noncontractible loop states (NLSs) with nontrivial real-space topology. In this study, we experimentally and analytically demonstrate the existence of NLSs in a 2D photonic borophene lattice without a CLS counterpart, owing to a band that is flat only along high-symmetry lines and dispersive along others.

Impact of a national collaborative project to improve the care of mechanically ventilated patients.

Engineered domain structures play an essential role in nonlinear optics for quasi-phase-matched parametric processes. Pyroelectric field-assisted domain inversion with focused femtosecond laser pulses is a promising approach to create arbitrary two-dimensional nonlinear photonic structures in a large volume without externally applied electrical fields. We fabricate lattices of ferroelectric domains by patterning lithium niobate crystals with femtosecond laser pulses and then heating them to elevated temperatures.

Vitamin D supplementation and improvement of pneumonic children at a tertiary pediatric hospital in Egypt: A randomized controlled trial.

Background: Despite the well-recognized effect of vitamin D in metabolism and homeostasis, there is now growing interest in its probable association with pneumonia. This study aims to supply vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) (100,000 IU) to pneumonic children to minimize the duration of illness and improve their outcome.

Methods: A double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled trial was conducted in a Pediatric Cairo University affiliated hospital.

Relapsed/Progressive Disease and Its Prognostic Factors among Multiple Myeloma Patients Receiving Novel Agent Treatment in North East Peninsular Malaysia: A Single Centre Experience.

Background: Some multiple myeloma (MM) patients still relapse/progress despite novel agent therapy and relapse/progression in MM is therefore a vital area of ongoing research in the novel treatment era. This retrospective cohort study aimed to evaluate the time to relapse/progression (TTP) among MM patients who received novel agents and to determine the associated prognostic factors.

The impact of active vitamin D administration on the clinical outcomes of acne vulgaris.

Acne vulgaris is one of the most common chronic inflammatory skin disorder affecting millions of people worldwide. Vitamin D deficiency has a role in various inflammatory skin diseases as acne. This study aimed to investigate the serum level of 25 hydroxy vitamin D in acne patients and to assess the efficacy and safety of active vitamin D in management of acne.

Benign chondroid syringoma of the orbit: an atypical location.

A 31-year-old male with no known medical illness presented with painless left eye protrusion for the past 2 years. Radiographic features were of an extraconal superior orbital mass with no invasion of adjacent structures. The patient underwent an excisional biopsy of the left superior extraconal mass a week later.

Hepatitis C Virus: Efficacy of New DAAs Regimens.

High-resolution anorectal manometry in children with functional constipation: a single-centre experience before and after treatment.

The aim of the current study was to investigate the relationship between serum Interleukin-4 (IL-4) and its gene polymorphism, namely rs79071878, and FMF occurrence, severity, and response to treatment in Egyptian children harboring the disease.
