Introduction: The emergence of hepatic injury in patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection during highly active therapy presents a diagnostic dilemma. It may represent treatment side effects or autoimmune disorders, such as autoimmune hepatitis, emerging during immune restoration.

Case Presentation: We present the case of a 42-year-old African-American woman with human immunodeficiency virus infection who presented to our emergency department with severe abdominal pain and was found to have autoimmune hepatitis.

Introduction: Polymicrobial endocarditis is a well-recognized problem in intravenous drug users and it accounts for 1 to 3% of endocarditis cases overall and up to 9% in other series. The most common combinations of organisms include Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae followed by Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Candida parapsilosis endocarditis carries a mortality rate of 45%, and each infection with Candida or Pseudomonas endocarditis per se carries a very high mortality rate approaching 85% and 80%, respectively.

Cockayne syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive condition characterized by growth failure and multisystem progressive degeneration. We report and describe this syndrome in a Jordanian brother and sister with Cockayne syndrome with first cousin parents. Clinical features included short stature, cachectic senile look, neurological deterioration, photosensitivity, mental retardation, hearing impairment and carious teeth.
