Objective: Because the poor survival of transplanted cells in a hostile microenvironment limits stem cell therapy, in the current study, we investigated the effect of rapamycin (Rapa)-preactivated autophagy on the survival and homing of transplanted adipose mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) in a rat model of cisplatin (Cis)-induced nephrotoxicity, as well as the possible role of the mTOR/AKT signaling pathway.

Materials And Methods: In vitro, ADMSCs isolated from rats were treated with 50 nmol/L rapamycin for 2 h, after which the cytoprotective and autophagy-inducing effects of Rapa were investigated. The cis-induced acute nephrotoxicity rat model was constructed in vivo.

Recent evidence has suggested that cadmium (Cd) ions-induced neurotoxicity is associated with increased oxidative stress and mitochondrial-dependent and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-induced apoptosis. This study aimed to investigate if rutin hydrate (RH), a well-reported neuroprotective and an antioxidant flavonoid, can ameliorate cadmium chloride (CdCl2)-induced neurotoxicity by inhibiting the resultant ER stress. Rats were divided into 4 groups (n = 16/group) of control, control + RH (100 mg/kg), CdCl (5 mg/kg), and CdCl + RH.

The link between Graves' disease (GD) and Hashimotos thyroiditis (HT) has been debated for decades due to the shared pathological and immunological components. Immune intolerance and inappropriate immune reaction against self-thyroid cells are distinctive features of both diseases, but definitive data for the clinical presentation of autoimmune thyroid disease remains unclear. To analyse the expression of T-regulatory cells, CD58, the CD4/CD8 ratio and the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and to determine if these parameters could be used as differentiating markers between auto- and non-immune thyroid diseases, 75 patients were enrolled in this study-40 with autoimmune thyroid disease (HT and GD ), 15 with non-immune thyroid disease, and 20 healthy controls.
