The impact of orthopedic scaffolds on bone defect healing, particularly the late-stage bone remodeling process, is pivotal for the therapeutic outcome. This study applies fadditively manufactured scaffolds composed of hydroxyapatite-doped poly(lactide-co-glycolide)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (HA-PELGA) with varying properties to treat rat calvarial defects, elucidating their significant role in bone remodeling by modulating physiological responses. We engineered two scaffolds with different polylactic acid (PLA) to polyglycolic acid (PGA) ratio (9/1 and 18/1) to vary in hydrophobicity, degradation rate, mechanical properties, and structural stability.

This study discussed the role of plant-associated microbiome in regulating ARG transfer in soil-plant systems. Results showed that target ARGs in plants were mainly derived from rhizosphere soil. Cooperative interactions among bacteria in rhizosphere soil, plant-roots, plant-shoots, and soil-roots-shoots systems occurred during ARG transfer.

Background: This study evaluated the effects of nitric oxide (NO) treatment on ascorbic acid (AsA) metabolism and mung bean sprout quality. It examined changes in the AsA content, enzyme activity associated with AsA metabolism, antioxidant capacity, cell membrane composition, and cellular structure to clarify the effects of NO on mung bean sprouts.

Teratoma are germ cell tumors, most frequently arising in and retroperitoneal teratomas are rare, especially adrenal teratomas. Only a few case reports have been documented in the literature so far. We report the case of a 52-year-old asymptomatic male patient who had an incidental finding of a left adrenal teratoma during an abdominal computed tomography scan; due to the large size of the tumor, he underwent laparoscopic left adrenalectomy, and histopathological examination revealed a mature teratoma of the left adrenal gland, Patient recovering well after surgery and had no recurrence after 6 months of postoperative follow-up.

Artificial construction from tendon to bone remains a formidable challenge in tissue engineering owing to their structural complexity. In this work, bioinspired calcium silicate nanowires and alginate composite hydrogels are utilized as building blocks to construct multiscale hierarchical bioactive scaffolds for versatile tissue engineering from tendon to bone. By integrating 3D printing technology and mechanical stretch post-treatment in a confined condition, the obtained composite hydrogels possess bioinspired reinforcement architectures from nano- to submicron- to microscale with significantly enhanced mechanical properties.
