Gut microbes is a crucial factor in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes (T1D). However, it is still unclear which gut microbiota are the key factors affecting T1D and their influence on the development and progression of the disease. To fill these knowledge gaps, we constructed a model to find biomarker from gut microbiota in patients with T1D.

RGB and CYMK are two major coloring schemes currently available for light colors and pigment colors, respectively. Both systems use letter-based color codes that require a large range of values to represent different colors. The problem is that these two systems are hard to use for manipulating any operations involving combinations of colors, and they lack the capacity for inter-changeability or unification.

Background: The fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF) method has been underutilized in research on the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of ocular hypertension (OH).

Purpose: This study uses resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and fALFF to investigate the nature of spontaneous brain activity in OH patients and the relationship, if any, between changes in activity and clinical features.

Materials And Methods: A total of 18 subjects (9 females and 9 males) with ocular hypertension (OH) and 18 healthy controls (HCs) matched for gender, age, and educational level were recruited to this study.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the detection value of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and voxel-based morphometry with diffeomorphic anatomical registration through exponentiated lie algebra (VBM-DARTEL) in normal-tension glaucoma (NTG), as well as the correlation between the two functional indicators. A total of 30 patients (15 males, 15 females) with NTG and 30 (15 males, 15 females) age-, sex- and education-matched healthy controls underwent OCTA and 3.0 T MRI scanning.

In this study, an efficient screening method based on a modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe extraction method combined with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry was established for the determination of 90 pesticides residues in Panax Ginseng. The accuracy of the method was then verified by analyzing the false positive rate and the screening detection limit in Ginseng. The results revealed that the screening detection limit of 33 of 90 pesticide residues were 0.

Bacillus pumilus BA06 has great potential for the production of alkaline proteases. To improve the protease yield, classical mutagenesis to combine the physical and chemical mutagens was performed to obtain a protease hyper-productive mutant SCU11. The full genome sequences of BA06 and SCU11 strains were assembled through DNA sequencing using the PacBio sequencing platform.

is an ideal host for secretion and expression of foreign proteins. The promoter is one of the most important elements to facilitate the high-level production of recombinant protein. To expand the repertoire of strong promoters for biotechnological applications in species, 14 highly transcribed genes based on transcriptome profiling of BA06 were selected and evaluated for their promoter strength in .

Background: We know little about the changes of brain activity in patients with normal-tension glaucoma (NTG).

Purpose: To investigate the altered spontaneous brain activity in patients with NTG through the resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging-fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (rsfMRI-fALFF) technique, and to explore the relationship with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and field of vision.

Material And Methods: Twenty patients with NTG and 20 healthy controls (HCs) (matched for sex, age, and level of education) were enrolled.

Purpose: A number of studies have provided concrete evidence about the role of Long noncoding RNAs (LncRNAs) in the development and progression of cancer. As such LncRNAs are believed to exhibit the potential to be used as therapeutic targets for the treatment of cancer. This study was undertaken to investigate the role and therapeutic implication of LncRNA PCAT29 in triple-negative breast cancer.

Single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing can be used to identify a wide variety of chemical modifications of the genome, such as methylation. Here, we applied this approach to identify N6-methyl-adenine (m6A) and N4-methyl-cytosine (m4C) modification in the genome of Bacillus pumilus BA06. A typical methylation recognition motif of the type I restriction-modification system (R-M), 5'-TCAN8TTGG-3'/3'-AGTN8AACC-5', was identified.

Background: Bacillus pumilus is a Gram-positive and endospore-forming bacterium broadly existing in a variety of environmental niches. Because it produces and secrets many industrially useful enzymes, a lot of studies have been done to understand the underlying mechanisms. Among them, scoC was originally identified as a pleiotropic transcription factor negatively regulating protease production and sporulation in B.

Background: Bacillus pumilus can secret abundant extracellular enzymes, and may be used as a potential host for the industrial production of enzymes. It is necessary to understand the metabolic processes during cellular growth. Here, an RNA-seq based transcriptome analysis was applied to examine B.

Identifying the classification rules for patients, based on a given dataset, is an important role in medical tasks. For example, the rules for estimating the likelihood of survival for patients undergoing breast cancer surgery are critical in treatment planning. Many well-known classification methods (as decision tree methods and hyper-plane methods) assume that classes can be separated by a linear function.

To induce critical classification rules from observed data is a major task in biological and medical research. A classification rule is considered to be useful if it is optimal and simultaneously satisfies three criteria: is highly accurate, has a high rate of support, and is highly compact. However, current classification methods, such as rough set theory, neural networks, ID3, etc.

Motivation: Maximum-likelihood methods for solving the consensus sequence identification (CSI) problem on DNA sequences may only find a local optimum rather than the global optimum. Additionally, such methods do not allow logical constraints to be imposed on their models. This study develops a linear programming technique to solve CSI problems by finding an optimum consensus sequence.

This study proposes an optimization model for optimal treatment of bacterial infections. Using an influence diagram as the knowledge and decision model, we can conduct two kinds of reasoning simultaneously: diagnostic reasoning and treatment planning. The input information of the reasoning system are conditional probability distributions of the network model, the costs of the candidate antibiotic treatments, the expected effects of the treatments, and extra constraints regarding belief propagation.
