Objective: To develop an accurate predictive model for identifying patients at high risk of pulmonary infection during radiochemotherapy.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 544 lung cancer patients treated at Hubei Cancer Hospital between May 2019 and October 2022. The patients were divided into training and validation groups (7:3 ratio).
In order to improve the accuracy of concentration detection in turbid media, this study proposes a solution concentration detection method based on a variable-angle wedge-shaped sample cell. Each angle of the wedge-shaped sample cell corresponds to a specific optical path combination. By measuring at multiple wedge angles, we can expand a variety of optical path combinations, providing more information about the turbid media.

However, the suboptimal electrical transport capacity for n-type polycrystalline SnSe significantly hinders the improvement of its thermoelectric performance. In this work, an effective approach for enhancing the thermoelectric performance of n-type SnSe polycrystalline materials through ZnCl doping has been investigated.

Objective: This study is aimed to identify biomarkers for symptomatic radiation pneumonitis (RP) in patients with lung cancer treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).
Methods: This multicenter, prospective study enrolled lung cancer patients receiving thoracic radiotherapy (RT) between 2021 and 2023. Plasma cytokines were measured using Luminex assays.
: Insufficient treatment options are available for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Flavonoids and topiramate have been studied for weight loss but need investigation into their effects on liver metabolism. This study's aim was to examine the effects of flavonoids or topiramate on glucose metabolic carbon flux in a cell culture model of steatosis.

Despite efforts to dissect the mechanism, the cellular transcriptomic reprogramming within the spatial context remains elusive. Here, we constructed single-cell and spatial transcriptome atlases of experimental CM (ECM) male murine brain tissues with or without artesunate (ART) treatment.

Methods: CTONG 2003 is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
The diagnosis and treatment of non-small cell lung cancer in clinical settings face serious challenges, particularly due to the lack of integration between the two processes, which limit real-time adjustments in treatment plans based on the patient's condition and drive-up treatment costs. Here, we present a multifunctional pH-sensitive core-shell nanoparticle containing quercetin (QCT), termed AHA@MnP/QCT NPs, designed for the simultaneous diagnosis and treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Mechanistic studies indicated that QCT and Mn exhibited excellent peroxidase-like (POD-like) activity, catalysing the conversion of endogenous hydrogen peroxide into highly toxic hydroxyl radicals through a Fenton-like reaction, depleting glutathione (GSH), promoting reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum, and inducing ferroptosis.

In this study, the SOC-driven extraordinary thermoelectric performance in a light 2D material Fe₂S₂ is demonstrated via first-principles calculations. The abnormally strong SOC, induced by electron correlation through 3d orbitals polarization, significantly renormalizes the band structures, which opens the bandgap via Fe 3d orbitals inversion, exposes the second conduction valley with weak electron-phonon coupling, and aligns the energy of Fe 3d and S 3p orbitals with divergent momentum in valence band.

Ischemia-reperfusion injury is a serious clinical pathology involving multiple organs such as the heart and brain. The injury results from oxidative stress, inflammatory response and cell death triggered by restoring tissue blood flow after ischemia, leading to severe cell and tissue damage. In recent years, the volume-regulated anion channel (VRAC) has gained attention as an important membrane protein complex.

Immunotherapy combined with platinum-based doublet chemotherapy has been approved as the standard treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who are devoid of specific gene mutations or fusions. Given that patients with NSCLC over the age of 65 typically exhibit declining organ function and physical condition, they often showed reduced tolerance for this rigorous treatment regimen.

However, the difference in the prognosis of patients with either cystic or solid BMs following radiotherapy remains poorly understood. We used a retrospective design to elucidate the disparities in survival between these two patient groups undergoing radiotherapy and to identify factors influencing the overall survival (OS) of patients with BMs.

However, the situation of malaria resistance has become increasingly severe due to the emergence and spread of artemisinin resistance. In recent years, significant progress has been made in understanding the mechanism of action (MoA) of artemisinin.

However, its facile and large-scale preparation, the prerequisite of industrial applications, has been very challenging. This dilemma originates from the Gibbs-Thomson effect, which renders it rather difficult to achieve high single atom loading (< 3 mol%).

To further refine the accuracy of turbid medium component detection utilizing wedge-shaped sample cells, this work undertakes modeling and analysis of the influence of different wedge angles on detection precision. In this study, employing a 5° gradient in the incident angle of light, we investigate the impact of incident angles ranging from 10 to 45° on the turbid medium component analysis.

The childhood obesity epidemic continues to be a challenge. Maternal obesity and excessive infant weight gain are strong predictors of childhood obesity, which itself is a major risk factor for adult obesity. The primary source of nutrition during early life is breast milk, and its composition is impacted by maternal habitus and diet.

Background: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) is characterized by lower immunogenicity with a poor response rate to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and exhibits the poorest prognosis of all solid tumors, which results in the highest tumor-related mortality among malignancies. However, the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. In addition, diverse carbohydrate sulfotransferases (CHSTs), which are involved in the sulfation process of these structures, play an important role in the metastatic spread of tumor cells.
