Fluorouracil, leucovorin, oxaliplatin, and docetaxel (FLOT) regimen in the first-line treatment of metastatic gastric cancer: A single-center experience.

Objective: The median survival time for metastatic gastric cancer that has a poor prognosis is usually shorter than 1 year. The fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, and docetaxel (FLOT) regimen is observed to be effective in the neo-adjuvant treatment of gastric cancer. However, data on the FLOT regimen in metastatic gastric cancer are limited.

Combination of adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy is associated with improved survival at early stage type II endometrial cancer and carcinosarcoma.

Aims: The aim of this study was to describe the impact of postoperative adjuvant treatment modalities and identify risk factors associated with recurrence and survival rates in women diagnosed with early stage type II endometrial cancer and carcinosarcoma.

Methods: In this retrospective study, patients diagnosed with early stage (stages I-II) carcinosarcoma and type II endometrial cancer were reviewed. All women underwent comprehensive surgical staging.

The purpose of this study was to determine the clinical significance of the serum levels of activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule-1 (ALCAM) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in gastric cancer (GC) patients. Fifty-eight GC patients and 20 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were enrolled into this study.

Factors affecting progression-free survival in non-HIV-related Kaposi sarcoma.

Background: Non-HIV related Kaposi sarcoma (NHKS) is a rare indolent neoplasm which is more common around Mediterranean origin. Data concerning factors that influence progression-free survival (PFS) for NHKS are insufficient. The purpose of present retrospective analysis was to distinguish the factors affecting PFS in patients with NHKS.

Clinical significance of serum interleukin-29, interleukin-32, and tumor necrosis factor alpha levels in patients with gastric cancer.

High serum transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFB1) level predicts better survival in breast cancer.

The transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFB1) is a regulatory cytokine with both tumor suppressor and tumor-promoting effects in breast cancer (BC) cell lines and tissue. Data about level of circulating TGFB1 and its prognostic significance in BC patients is conflicting. The objective of this study is to determine the clinical significance of the serum TGFB1 levels in BC patients.

Cystatin C is better than albuminuria as a predictor of pulse wave velocity in hypertensive patients.

Introduction: Arterial stiffness is important in the evaluation of the cardiovascular risk in both general population and hypertensive patients. In this study, we aimed to investigate the associations of both serum cystatin C levels and albuminuria with arterial stiffness in healthy controls and hypertensive patients.

Patients And Methods: Seventy-six healthy controls (male/female = 44/32) and 76 hypertensive patients (male/female = 43/33) were enrolled.

Efficacy of tenofovir in patients with Lamivudine failure is not different from that in nucleoside/nucleotide analogue-naive patients with chronic hepatitis B.

We evaluated the efficacy of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) in patients with lamivudine failure (LAM-F) in comparison with that in nucleoside/nucleotide analogue (NA)-naïve patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). The criteria for inclusion were being NA naïve or having previous LAM-F and receiving TDF therapy for at least 6 months. Biochemical and virological tests were performed at the baseline, at 3-month intervals in the first year, and every 6 months thereafter.
