Article Synopsis
  • The coexistence of Crohn's disease and acute appendicitis is uncommon, presenting challenges in treatment due to differing recommended approaches for each condition.
  • A 17-year-old boy with Crohn's disease experienced symptoms of appendicitis, and after confirmation through ultrasound, he underwent endoscopic retrograde appendicitis therapy (ERAT) rather than a traditional appendectomy.
  • The ERAT procedure was successful, providing immediate pain relief and preventing further abdominal attacks over an 18-month follow-up, indicating it as a safe alternative treatment in patients with both conditions.
