Objective: Despite women's preference for induction of labor (IOL) or dilation and evacuation (D&E) for pregnancy termination in the setting of second trimester fetal or pregnancy abnormality, many women are not given a choice between delivery methods. We investigated patient and clinical related factors associated with selecting IOL or D&E.
Methods: This retrospective cohort experienced pregnancy termination at 17-24 weeks of gestation for fetal anomaly, intrauterine fetal demise, or premature previable rupture.
Objective: To examine patterns of visits by residents of northern Israel displaced during the Israel-Lebanon War of 2006 to an urgent care system in central Israel and to compare these patterns with those of local patients.
Design: Retrospective analysis of electronic medical records.
Setting: Urgent care clinic system in and around Jerusalem, Israel.
Objectives: To examine narratives of personal coping with the cancer experience and compare them with narratives of advice offered to other cancer patients by community-dwelling elderly cancer survivors.
Design: Qualitative and quantitative mixed methods.
Setting: Community.
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate changes in antenatal care (ANC) utilization among semi-nomadic Bedouin Arab women living in the Negev desert of Israel before and after the establishment of a local Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Clinic.
Methods: Retrospective record review of ANC utilization by pregnant women in two successive pregnancies, one before and one after the establishment of a local MCH Clinic. The study population was comprised of all 85 women who registered their newborns for care at MCH Clinic A, regardless of whether or not they had registered at the clinic for ANC.

Objective: The study was aimed to define obstetric factors associated with shoulder dystocia.
Methods: A population-based study comparing all singleton, vertex, term deliveries with shoulder dystocia with deliveries without shoulder dystocia was performed. Statistical analysis was done using multiple logistic regression analysis.
Background: The study was aimed to compare pregnancies complicated with shoulder dystocia, of patients with and without diabetes mellitus.
Methods: A comparison of all singleton, vertex, term deliveries between the years 1988-1999, complicated with shoulder dystocia with and without diabetes mellitus was performed. Statistical analysis was done using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.
We assessed the effect of labor induction among parturients carrying macrosomic fetuses on the risk of a cesarean section (CS). The study population consisted of consecutive women with singleton fetuses weighing >/=4,000 g, delivered between 1988 and 1999. A comparison was made between parturients who delivered after labor induction and those who delivered without labor induction.

Significant associations were reported between impaired semen parameters and the following chemical exposures: metals (lead, mercury), pesticides (dibromochlorophane, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid), ethylene glycol ethers and estrogens. The following physical exposures were shown to deteriorate sperm parameters: radiation (both ionized and microwaves) and heat.

We measured sensitive indicators of renal damage in three different populations occupationally exposed to cadmium, and examined the degree of variation in damage and the relative sensitivity of different types of indicators. The three studies included (1) men exposed in a cadmium recovery plant, (2) men exposed in a nickel/cadmium battery plant, and (3) women exposed in the latter plant. The indicators of renal damage were urinary proteins in three categories: (1) the high molecular weight enzymes alanine aminopeptidase (AAP) and N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (NAG), (2) the intermediate molecular weight protein albumin (ALB), and (3) the low molecular weight proteins retinol-binding protein (RBP) and beta 2-microglobulin (B2M).

Internal analgesic expenditures and usage data for 3-month periods before and after the removal were compared (April through June 1984 versus the same period in 1985). After adjusting for price and reimbursement changes between the two study periods, overall expenditures were slightly higher after removal of these products.

The market shares of products in subgroups of the internal analgesic therapeutic category were compared for periods before and after the restriction. Data from Wisconsin Medicaid Management Information System claims records were analyzed to determine changes in the percent of recipients, prescriptions, and expenditures.

Inventory costs, personnel costs, and check processing costs under the current purchasing system were compared with costs estimated for a proposed prime vendor purchasing system. For each step in the purchasing process that would be changed under the proposed system, work measurement techniques were used to determine personnel costs.

Low levels of satisfaction among hospital pharmacists may be largely because of the manner in which pharmacy is practiced. While leaders in pharmacy have developed innovative programs and colleges of pharmacy have produced highly skilled practitioners, the practice of hospital pharmacy has not kept pace.

A survey composed of job-satisfaction measures that have been used in previous research was sent to all hospital pharmacy personnel (270 pharmacists and 208 support personnel) in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona. Sixteen facet-free questions measured overall job satisfaction.
