This study aims to evaluate the suitability of subsurface layers for infrastructure development using geophysical and geotechnical studies. Six seismic refraction and six 2D geoelectic profiles were conducted in the study area to analyze the geotechnical characteristics of the subsoil in order to assess its suitability for construction projects. According to the geophysical investigation, there are two main geoelectric strata, each with a different lithology and thickness.

Lumbar cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage is one of the few preventative and therapeutic practices that may reduce spinal cord ischemia in high-risk thoracic endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (TEVAR). Although this is part of clinical guidelines in open thoracoabdominal aortic repair, there are no randomized controlled trials that provide convincing evidence on the protection conferred by CSF drainage in high-risk TEVAR patients. This gap in knowledge obfuscates clinical decision making given the risk of significant complications of CSF drain insertion and management.

The use of endovascular, percutaneous interventions to treat cardiac, arterial, and venous pathologies is becoming increasingly common in medical practice. While endovascular device placement typically carries a low risk, device migration remains a persistent problem with these procedures for which anesthesia providers must have a high index of suspicion. Anesthesia providers should be aware of the wide range of indications for such devices, potential migration locations, and hemodynamic consequences of both the inciting pathology and device migration so they can safely care for patients in these settings.

The presence of a tracheal bronchus, which is often incidentally discovered, complicates endotracheal intubation and lung isolation during thoracic surgery. Prior reports of successful right-sided lung isolation in the presence of tracheal bronchus required utilization of a double lumen tube. Although right-sided lung isolation was required in our case, due to other patient factors, it was determined that a double lumen tube of a suitable size would be unlikely to be placed safely and successfully.

The current contribution goal is to measure the distribution of the radionuclide within the exposed rock units of southwestern Sinai, Seih-Sidri area, and assess the radiological risk. Gneisses, older granites, younger gabbro, younger granites, and post granitic dikes (pegmatites) are the main rock units copout in the target area. Radioactivity, as well as radiological implications, were investigated for forty-three samples from gneisses (seven hornblende biotite gneiss and seven biotite gneiss), older granites (fourteen samples), and younger granites (fifteen samples of syenogranites) using NaI (Tl) scintillation detector.

Natural radioactivity, radiological hazard, and petrological studies of Homrit Waggat granitic rocks, Central Eastern Desert, Egypt were performed in order to assess their suitability as ornamental stone. On the basis of mineralogical and geochemical compositions, Homrit Waggat granitic rocks can be subdivided into two subclasses. The first class comprises granodiorite and tonalite (I-type) and is ascribed to volcanic arc, whereas the second one includes alkali-feldspar granite, syenogranite, and albitized granite with high-K calc alkaline character, which is related to post-orogenic granites.
