Introduction: A textiloma or gossypiboma is a retained surgical material in the body after an operation. It may be asymptomatic or revealed by complications such as occlusion, perforation, and fistulization.

Case Report: We report a case of intraabdominal textiloma mimicking a mesenteric tumor.

In the framework of fully vertical GaN-on-Silicon device technology development, we report on the optimization of non-alloyed ohmic contacts on the N-polar n+-doped GaN face backside layer. This evaluation is made possible by using patterned TLMs (Transmission Line Model) through direct laser writing lithography after locally removing the substrate and buffer layers in order to access the n+-doped backside layer. As deposited non-alloyed metal stack on top of N-polar orientation GaN layer after buffer layers removal results in poor ohmic contact quality.

Article Synopsis
  • Pulmonary sequestration (PS) is a rare lung condition affecting 1%-6% of newborns, where a segment of lung tissue has no direct airway connection or blood supply from the lungs.
  • A case involving a 28-year-old woman with recurrent infections was reported, where imaging revealed intralobar sequestration, leading to successful robotic surgical removal.
  • Early diagnosis of PS is often challenging due to its resemblance to other lung issues on X-rays; while angiography is the traditional imaging method, CT angiography is preferred today for better visual clarity.

Selective modulation of TRPC6 ion channels is a promising therapeutic approach for neurodegenerative diseases and depression. A significant advancement showcases the selective activation of TRPC6 through metalated type-B PPAP, termed . This success stems from 's 1,3-diketone motif facilitating metal coordination.

St. John's wort is an herb, long used in folk medicine for the treatment of mild depression. Its antidepressant constituent, hyperforin, has properties such as chemical instability and induction of drug-drug interactions that preclude its use for individual pharmacotherapies.

We report on the fabrication and electrical characterization of AlGaN/GaN normally off transistors on silicon designed for high-voltage operation. The normally off configuration was achieved with a p-gallium nitride (p-GaN) cap layer below the gate, enabling a positive threshold voltage higher than +1 V. The buffer structure was based on AlN/GaN superlattices (SLs), delivering a vertical breakdown voltage close to 1.

Peptides derived from animal venoms provide important research tools for biochemical and pharmacological characterization of receptors, ion channels, and transporters. Some venom peptides have been developed into drugs (such as the synthetic ω-conotoxin MVIIA, ziconotide) and several are currently undergoing clinical trials for various clinical indications. Challenges in the development of peptides include their usually limited supply from natural sources, cost-intensive chemical synthesis, and potentially complicated stereoselective disulfide-bond formation in the case of disulfide-rich peptides.

Cone snails produce a fast-acting and often paralyzing venom that is usually injected into their prey or predator through a hypodermic needle-like modified radula tooth. Many diverse compounds are found in their venom including small molecules, peptides and enzymes. However, peptidic toxins called conotoxins (10⁻40 residues and 2⁻4 disulfide bonds) largely dominate these cocktails.
