Background: Surveillance for heart transplant rejection by endomyocardial biopsy is invasive and may yield false negatives. T1 and T2 mapping from cardiac magnetic resonance can demonstrate elevations with rejection. We sought to evaluate longitudinal changes in T1 and T2 mapping in pediatric patients with heart transplant.

The Effect of Pass/Fail Exam Grading on Exam Performance in a Pediatric Clerkship.

Objective: Clerkship grades are a component of determining a residency candidate's competitiveness. In 2017, the University of Minnesota Medical School's pediatric clerkship transitioned its standardized multiple-choice exam, the Aquifer Pediatrics Examination, to pass/fail with eligibility for honors being determined by clinical performance, not exam performance. We assessed the effect this change had on Aquifer exam performance and evaluated for correlation between Aquifer exam performance and clinical evaluation scores in order to gather insight into the validity of each type of assessment with respect to one another.

How Are Patient Order and Shift Timing Associated with Imaging Choices in the Emergency Department? Evidence From Niagara Health Administrative Data.

Study Objective: We assessed whether the timing and order of patients over emergency shifts are associated with receiving diagnostic imaging in the emergency department and characterized whether changes in imaging are associated with changes in patients returning to the ED.

Methods: In this retrospective study, we used multivariate and instrumental variable regressions to examine how the timing and order of patients are associated with the use of diagnostic imaging. Outcomes include whether a patient receives a radiograph, a computed tomography (CT) scan, an ultrasound, and 7-day bouncebacks to the ED.

Plastic Morphological Response to Spectral Shifts during Inorganic Phototropic Growth.

Plants exhibit phototropism in which growth is directed toward sunlight and demonstrate morphological plasticity in response to changes in the spectral distribution of the incident illumination. Inorganic phototropic growth via template-free, light-directed electrochemical deposition of semiconductor material can spontaneously generate highly ordered mesostructures with anisotropic, nanoscale lamellar features that exhibit a pitch proportional to the wavelength (λ) of the stimulating illumination. In this work, Se-Te films were generated via a two-step inorganic phototropic growth process using a series of narrowband light-emitting diode sources with discrete output wavelengths (λ ≠ λ).

Self-, collective, and participative efficacy are strong predictors of sustainability action. Yet, few studies have investigated the dynamics and variability of efficacy beliefs. In this transdisciplinary study, we tested such factors in the context of a peer-to-peer coaching program for sustainability volunteers, embedded in a structured-educational context.

Assessing Effects of Near-Field Synergistic Light Absorption on Ordered Inorganic Phototropic Growth.

We report herein that synergistic light absorption in the optical near-field enables nanoscale self-organization during inorganic phototropic growth. Se-Te was grown electrochemically under illumination from an incoherent, unstructured light source in geometrically constrained, wavelength scale areas. Despite the limited dimensions, with as few as two discrete features produced in a single sub-micron dimension, the deposit morphology exhibited defined order and anisotropy.

Background: Ultrasound diagnostics are widely used and are standard for radiologists, otolaryngologists, and oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the diagnostic work-up of various pathologies. There is agreement that digital documentation is urgently needed at present to improve and standardize the quality of sonographic documentation. There are more and more publications on the implementation of standardized documentation of findings in imaging diagnostics, including head and neck sonography.

Path-Dependent Morphological Evolution of Se-Te Mesostructures Prepared by Inorganic Phototropic Growth.

We describe herein a path-dependent "history" effect wherein the film morphology generated in the second step of a two-step inorganic phototropic growth process depends on a preexisting structure that has been first grown under different optical stimulation conditions. Se-Te generated with static illumination exhibited a highly anisotropic lamellar morphology with a characteristic feature pitch proportional to the input wavelength. Growth using first a short wavelength of light, followed by growth using a longer wavelength, resulted in the second-stage morphology exhibiting termination of lamellae formed during the first growth step.

In this paper, we propose that the tremendous consequences of the corona crisis invite environmental psychology to focus more strongly on research questions that address major societal challenges from a collective psychology perspective.

Troponin I Levels Correlate with Cardiac MR LGE and Native T1 Values in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Cardiomyopathy and Identify Early Disease Progression.

Cardiomyopathy is the leading cause of death in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Elevated troponin levels are observed in DMD and may vary with disease progression. We studied troponin levels in DMD related to cardiac fibrosis and native T1 measures.

A feasibility study on violence prevention in outpatients with schizophrenia.

Patients with schizophrenia have an increased risk of violent behavior, and occupy a large percentage of forensic beds. Most patients in forensic psychiatry have already undergone general psychiatric therapy. This predestinates general psychiatrists to identify those patients presenting such a risk, and to try to intervene so that violence can be prevented.

Template-Free Synthesis of Periodic Three-Dimensional PbSe Nanostructures via Photoelectrodeposition.

Highly periodic, geometrically directed, anisotropic Se-Pb films have been synthesized at room temperature from an isotropic aqueous solution without the use of physical templates by photoelectrodeposition using a series of discrete input illumination polarizations and wavelengths from an unstructured, uncorrelated, incoherent light source. Dark growth did not generate deposits with substantial long-range order, but growth using unpolarized illumination resulted in an ordered, nanoscale, mesh-type morphology. Linearly polarized illumination generated Se-Pb deposits that displayed an ordered, highly anisotropic lamellar pattern wherein the long axes of the lamellae were aligned parallel to the light polarization vector.
