The size and shape of novel partially fluorinated gemini surfactant 1,2-bis[dimethyl-(3-perfluoroalkyl-2-hydroxypropyl)ammonium]ethane bromide (CnFC3-2-C3CnF, where n=4, 6, and 8) were investigated in aqueous solution by means of light scattering and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The sizes of these molecular aggregates changed with increasing carbon number of the alkyl chain and concentration. PMA treatment induced tyrosine phosphorylation of Crk-associated substrate (Cas) and formation of a complex with Crk, followed by Rac1 activation, a downstream effector of Cas/Crk complex. These effects were blocked by a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (PP2) or Src small interfering RNA (siRNA), indicating that Src was involved in the PMA-induced activation of Cas/Crk/Rac1 signaling pathway.

In this study, using quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), we have analysed RECK expression levels in resected non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissue and compared these data with the clinicopathological features of these patients to investigate the role of RECK in NSCLC. We report a 19-year-old woman with Behcet's disease who suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage and had bilateral peripheral middle cerebral artery aneurysms. After steroid therapy for 3 days, the smaller aneurysm disappeared. The larger aneurysm was excised and the artery reconstructed using a superficial temporary artery graft.

Materials And Methods: mRNA expressions of 17 MMPs, 4 TIMPs, and RECK were measured in 112 colorectal cancerous tissues, 20 normal mucosa tissues, and 11 metastatic liver lesions by real-time reverse-transcriptional-polymerase chain reaction. The protein level expressions were confirmed with immunohistochemistry.
HOX genes encode transcription factors that play a key role in morphogenesis and cell differentiation during embryogenesis of animals. Human neuroblastoma cells are known to be chemically induced to differentiate into neuronal or Schwannian cells. Background: As direct surgery to treat giant aneurysms of the ICA is difficult, ICA occlusion is the conventional treatment in patients with BTO tolerance. To determine whether bypass surgery should be performed after carotid occlusion by trapping or proximal occlusion, we developed a treatment strategy that includes BTO and SPECT.
Methods: We report 19 patients with symptomatic giant aneurysms in the cavernous portion of ICA.
We have previously shown that transduction of HOXD3, one of homeobox genes, into human lung cancer A549 cells enhances cell motility, invasion and metastasis. In the present study, we examined the roles of integrin beta3 which was up-regulated by HOXD3-overexpression in the HOXD3-induced motility of A549 cells.
