Background: Dengue vascular permeability syndrome is the primary cause of death in severe dengue infections. The protective versus potentially pathogenic role of dengue nonstructural protein-1 (NS1) antibodies are not well understood. Background: People with severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia-spectrum disorder and bipolar disorder, face poorer health outcomes from multiple chronic illnesses. Physical multimorbidity, the coexistence of two or more chronic physical conditions, and psychiatric multimorbidity, the coexistence of three or more psychiatric disorders, are both emerging concepts useful in conceptualising disease burden. However, the prevalence of physical and psychiatric multimorbidity in this cohort is unknown.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the performances of the tumor response prediction prior to neoadjuvant chemotherapy based on quantitative ultrasound, tumour core-margin, texture derivative analyses, and molecular parameters in a large cohort of patients (n = 208) with locally advanced and earlier-stage breast cancer and combined them to best determine tumour responses with machine learning approach. Two multi-features response prediction algorithms using a k-nearest neighbour and support vector machine were developed with leave-one-out and hold-out cross-validation methods to evaluate the performance of the response prediction models. In a leave-one-out approach, the quantitative ultrasound-texture analysis based model attained good classification performance with 80% of accuracy and AUC of 0.

Recent work identified anti-GM2 and anti-GalNAc-GD1a IgG ganglioside antibodies as biomarkers in dogs clinically diagnosed with acute canine polyradiculoneuritis, in turn considered a canine equivalent of Guillain-Barré syndrome. This study aims to investigate the serum prevalence of similar antibodies in cats clinically diagnosed with immune-mediated polyneuropathies. Glycolipids cluster in plasma membranes to form heterogenous patches. Whereas lectins and antibodies have been conventionally viewed as binding a single oligosaccharide head group, and assayed accordingly, it is increasingly evident that cis-interactions between glycan headgroups may form unique molecular shapes that either enhance or attenuate binding of antibodies and other proteins. Herein we describe a method for assaying antibody binding to heteromeric glycolipid complexes that allows rapid, simple, inexpensive and high-throughput assessment of binding events, focusing on autoantibodies present in human serum.

Objectives: A previous single-country pilot study indicated serum anti-GM2 and anti-GA1 anti-glycolipid antibodies as potential biomarkers for acute canine polyradiculoneuritis. This study aims to validate these findings in a large geographically heterogenous cohort.

Might COVID-19 vaccines sensitize humans to antibody-dependent enhanced (ADE) breakthrough infections? This is unlikely because coronavirus diseases in humans lack the clinical, epidemiological, biological, or pathological attributes of ADE disease exemplified by dengue viruses (DENV). In contrast to DENV, SARS and MERS CoVs predominantly infect respiratory epithelium, not macrophages. Severe disease centers on older persons with preexisting conditions and not infants or individuals with previous coronavirus infections.

Dengvaxia, a chimeric yellow fever tetravalent dengue vaccine developed by SanofiPasteur is widely licensed in dengue-endemic countries. In a large cohort study Dengvaxia was found to partially protect children who had prior dengue virus (DENV) infections but sensitized seronegative children to breakthrough DENV disease of enhanced severity. In 2019, the European Medicines Agency and the US FDA issued licenses that reconciled safety issues by restricting vaccine to individuals with prior dengue infections.
