Treatment of advanced hepatitis C with a low accelerating dosage regimen of antiviral therapy.

Patients with advanced hepatitis C virus (HCV) are at risk of death and are candidates for liver transplantation. After transplantation, HCV recurs and may rapidly progress to cirrhosis and graft loss. Treatment is needed to prevent progression of disease and minimize recurrence after liver transplantation.

Nd:YAG laser in treatment of seriously ill patients with gastrointestinal bleeding.

Nd:YAG (neodymium:yttrium aluminum garnet) laser coagulation was used to treat 30 seriously ill patients with massive or prolonged gastrointestinal bleeding. An average of 7.5 units of blood was given prior to Nd:YAG laser treatment.
