Jamaica, like most Small Island Developing States around the world, is at high risk of coastal hazards due to its exposure to tropical storms, high levels of coastal development, vulnerable coastal communities, and the predicted impacts of climate change. Environmental degradation has been linked to increased vulnerability to disasters. Nature-based Solutions, although not formally present in the literature, are being implemented at various scales in Jamaica.

The main hurdle in transplantation is preventing graft rejection, which appears as lymphocytic infiltration upon histologic evaluation of the graft. The underlying mechanism of COVAN is unknown. We hypothesized that cytokines induced by COVID-19 trigger expression of pathogenic APOL1 via JAK/STAT signaling, resulting in podocyte loss and COVAN phenotype.

Objective: We sought to explore the impact of race/ethnicity as a social construct on monoclonal antibody delivery.
Design/patients: Following implementation of a centralized infusion program at a large academic healthcare system, we reviewed a random sample of high-risk ambulatory adult patients with COVID-19 referred for monoclonal antibody therapy.
A search for low-mass dilepton resonances in Higgs boson decays is conducted in the four-lepton final state. The decay is assumed to proceed via a pair of beyond the standard model particles, or one such particle and a boson. The search uses proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 , at a center-of-mass energy .

However, our understanding of postprandial fat absorption and metabolism after RYGB is incomplete.
Methods: Stable palmitate tracers were administered intravenously (K-[2,2-H]palmitate) and orally with a mixed meal ([U-C]palmitate) to study fatty acid absorption and metabolism before and 3 months after RYGB in 10 participants with obesity and normal glucose tolerance.

Objective: This work aimed to determine the role of IL-6 in regulating systemic protein and amino acid metabolism during rest, exercise, and recovery in lean and obese humans.
Methods: In a nonrandomized, single-blind design, 12 lean and 9 obese individuals were infused first with 0.
Although associations among borderline personality disorder (BPD), social rejection, and frontal EEG alpha asymmetry scores (FAA, a neural correlate of emotion regulation and approach-withdrawal motivations) have been explored in different studies, relatively little work has examined these relations during adolescence in the same study. We examined whether FAA moderated the relation between BPD features and rejection sensitivity following a validated social exclusion paradigm, Cyberball. A mixed, clinical-community sample of 64 adolescents (females = 62.

There is limited understanding of the long-term effects of cancer and cancer treatment on quality of life and personal and household finances when compared to people without cancer. In a separate protocol we have proposed to link de-identified data from electronic primary care and hospital records for a large population of cancer survivors and matched controls.

Materials And Methods: Retrospective study of RF patients undergoing multimodal analgesia at ACS-verified Level 1 Trauma Center April 2018-February 2020.
The spectra measurements of charged hadrons produced in the shower of a parton originating in the same hard scattering with a leptonically decaying Z boson are reported in lead-lead nuclei (Pb-Pb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. Both Pb-Pb and pp data sets are recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.

Setting: Primary and secondary care, one participating regional centre.
Participants: Retrospective analysis of data from 371 799 consecutive 2WW referrals in the Leeds region from 2011 to 2019.
A consensus statement for the management for patients of all ages with all stages of nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) - All StAGEs - is proposed by representatives of the UK National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Hodgkin lymphoma study group and the Children's Cancer & Leukaemia Group. Based on current practices and published evidence, a consensus has been reached regarding diagnosis, staging and risk-ik7 stratified management which includes active surveillance, low- and standard-dose immunochemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Objective: Cartilage collagen has very limited repair potential, though some turnover and incorporation has not been fully excluded. We aim to determine the regional turnover of human osteoarthritis cartilage.
Design: Patients scheduled for knee joint replacement surgery due to osteoarthritis were recruited in this prospective study of four weeks duration.
Background: There is growing evidence that lung function in early-life predicts later lung function. Adverse events over the lifespan might influence an individual's lung function trajectory, resulting in poor respiratory health. The aim of this study is to identify early-life risk factors and their impact on lung function trajectories to prevent long-term lung impairments.

Conduct problems and peer affiliation mediated the relationship between parental monitoring and school participation as well as grades in the overall sample ( = 4,600). A multiple-group mediation model suggested that these effects did not significantly differ across students with EBR and UBR, though the mediation estimates were smaller in magnitude and not statistically significant among students with EBR.

A search for dark matter in the form of strongly interacting massive particles (SIMPs) using the CMS detector at the LHC is presented. The SIMPs would be produced in pairs that manifest themselves as pairs of jets without tracks. The energy fraction of jets carried by charged particles is used as a key discriminator to suppress efficiently the large multijet background, and the remaining background is estimated directly from data.

The differential cross sections are measured as functions of the Higgs boson transverse momentum, jet multiplicity, and transverse momentum of the leading jet in the event, if any. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1}.

They represent a phenotypically and genetically heterogeneous group of disorders that can have a major impact on vision. Several genes encoding proteins and effectors of the canonical Wnt/β-catenin pathway have been associated and precise diagnosis, although difficult, is essential for proper clinical management including syndrome specific management where appropriate.

A new generation of gated x-ray detectors at the National Ignition Facility has brought faster, enhanced imaging capabilities. Their performance is currently limited by the amount of signal they can be operated with before space charge effects in their electron tube start to compromise their temporal and spatial response. We present a technique to characterize this phenomenon and apply it to a prototype of such a system, the Single Line Of Sight camera.
