Objective: The objective of this study was to examine the effects of orlistat use on metabolic control and weight loss in diabetic and nondiabetic patients.
Methods: A total of 119 patients with body mass index≥40 kg/m2 and receiving orlistat therapy, who applied to the Endocrinology polyclinic between January 2016 and October 2019, were included. The patients' weight changes and biochemical values (i.
Introduction: We aimed to see whether insulin glargine U300 can provide better blood glucose control while reducing hypoglycaemia in a more homogeneous population compared to previous studies.
Material And Methods: The retrospective study included type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) patients with frequent hypoglycaemia. For evaluation of fasting blood glucose, haemoglobin glycated (HbA) and weight at 6 months and 12 months (final), observation windows of 120-240 days (4-8 months) and 240-480 days (9-16 months) after insulin glargine U300 initiation, respectively, were permitted.
Aims: Insulin degludec/aspart (IDegAsp) and insulin glargine U300 (IGlarU300) have recently emerged as popular new-generation insulin analogues. The aim of this real-life study was to investigate the patient profiles in which IGlarU300 and IDegAsp were preferred and the insulin combinations after which each of them were mostly used and also to analyse the effect of these two insulin analogues on blood glucose regulation and hypoglycaemia.
Materials And Methods: The retrospective study included 174 patients that were switched from basal insulin, basal-bolus insulin, or premixed insulin to IGlarU300 or IDegAsp due to uncontrolled blood glucose levels or history of hypoglycaemia.
Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in serum irisin, fibroblast growth factor-21 (FGF21), visfatin, follistatin like protein-1 (FSTL1), and meteorin-like protein (Metrnl) levels in response to increased physical activity and/or diet interventions in overweight subjects with impaired glucose metabolism (IGM).
Methods: A total of 60 subjects (BMI > 25.0 kg/m) with IGM were recruited in this single-centered interventional study.
Background: The present survey aimed to find out the demographical and clinical characteristics of patients with hypertension in a population with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Turkey.
Methods: Patients with T2DM who were followed-up in tertiary endocrine units for at least last one year were recruited. Demographic, clinical and biochemical data of the patients were collected.

Objective: To determine the circulatory miRNA expression levels in patients with Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) at the time of diagnosis and follow-up period compared with healthy controls.
Methods: We collected blood samples from 34 patients with HT (4 males and 30 females) at the time of first diagnosis (Group P) and euthyroid period (Group E). Thirty-three healthy controls (Group H) blood samples were also included in the study.
Background: The majority of prediabetic people are overweight and weight loss is still the most effective treatment strategy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of short-term exercise and/or diet on weight loss and clinical parameters in subjects with insulin resistance (IR).
Methods: A total of 60 subjects (BMI≥25.
Hypertension is a common and important public health problem in Turkey and worldwide. Recommendations on the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension have been presented in many nationally and internationally agreed European and American guidelines. However, there are differences among these guidelines, and some of the recommendations are not consistent with clinical practice in our country.

Forty-five untreated patients with overt hyperthyroidism (OHyper), 20 untreated patients with subclinical hyperthyroidism (SHyper) and 30 age-and sex-matched healthy controls were prospectively included in the study. Biochemical and hormonal parameters were evaluated in all patients before and after treatment.

In this cross-sectional study, we enrolled 2,500 subjects (1,270 women and 1,230 men, aged over 20 years) by multistage sampling. Blood and urine specimens were collected for the assessment of thyroid function.

Left ventricular (LV) dyssynchrony means the impairment of synchronicity and is defined as the loss of the simultaneous peak contraction of corresponding cardiac segments. The objective of this study was to investigate whether acromegalic patients have left ventricular dyssynchrony.

Several studies indicate that coagulation and fibrinolytic system is disturbed in the patients with hyperthyroidism. The levels of plasma thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) antigen and tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) have been very rarely investigated in patients with hyperthyroidism.

In this study, we aimed at establishing an association between IMA and hyperglycemia, blood pressure, lipid parameters, microvascular complications, hsCRP, and microalbuminuria in type 2 diabetes patients without overt macrovascular disease and acute ischemia.

A point mutation (677 C-T) of MTHFR gene results in a significant increase at plasma homocysteine levels. In this study we aimed to evaluate the effects of MTHFR gene mutation and consequent hyperhomocysteinemia on the development of diabetic microvascular complications in comparison with the other defined risk factors.

Additionally, diabetes mellitus is frequently complicated by other cardiovascular risk factors, such as hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, obesity, hypercoagulability, and inflammation. We wanted to evaluate and compare the effects of treating with a one-year course of atorvastatin or simvastatin on inflammatory markers such as high sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP), fibrinogen, and ferritin in uncontrolled type 2 diabetic patients.

To our knowledge, plasma tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) and thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) levels in these patients have not been investigated. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to evaluate the markers of endogenous coagulation/fibrinolysis, including TFPI and TAFI, and to investigate the relationships between GH/IGF-1 and these hemostatic parameters and serum lipid profile in patients with acromegaly.

We assessed the diagnostic value of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and free prostate-specific antigen (fPSA) in women with ovulatory or anovulatory PCOS. Study group consisted of 62 women with PCOS and 35 healthy female controls.

We studied the fine needle aspiration specimens of 38 patients who had evaluated for nodular goiter and undergone a thyroid surgery between 2004-2005. Slides had been stained immunocytochemically with Galectin-3.
