Is There Any Differences in Dento-Skeletal Stability between One Vs. Three-Screw Fixation of Mandible Following Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy (BSSO)?

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the dento-skeletal stability between one and three-screw fixation of mandible following bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) in skeletal class 3 patients.

Methods: Healthy patients with skeletal class 3 malocclusion in Mashhad, Iran, from August 2020 to May 2021 were undergone mandibular setback through bilateral sagittal split osteotomy. Rigid fixation was performed in one group with one-screw technique, and three-screw fixation was done in another group.

Canine and molar movement, rotation and tipping by NiTi coils versus elastomeric chains in first maxillary premolar extraction orthodontic adolescents: A randomized split-mouth study.

Purpose: The primary objective was to compare canine and molar movement between NiTi coil and elastomeric chains. The secondary objective was to compare the side effects of these techniques (rotation and tipping).

Materials And Methods: This single-blind randomized split-mouth clinical trial was done prospectively.

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a serious pathological condition that usually results from anti-resorptive or anti-angiogenic drugs. We aimed to report an unusual MRONJ in a female patient due to long-term simvastatin administration. A 48-year female was referred to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial, Mashhad Dental School, Mashhad, Iran in Dec 2019.

The Effect of Bimaxillary Orthognathic Surgery on Nasalance, Articulation Errors, and Speech Intelligibility in Skeletal Class III Deformity Patients.

Background: We aimed to detect the changes in nasalance, articulation errors, and speech intelligibility after bimaxillary orthognathic surgery in skeletal class III patients.

Methods: This double-blinded before and after quasi-experimental study was conducted in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Qaem Hospital, Mashhad, Iran from Mar 2019 to Apr 2020. The main intervention was maxillary advancement with LeFort I osteotomy and mandibular setback surgery with bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO).

Does Primary Vomer Flap Significantly Affect Maxillary Growth?

Background: Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is a common congenital anomaly. Efficient surgical management of CLP is challenging in severe cases with wide clefts. Use of primary vomer flap simultaneous with cleft lip repair is effective in some cases, but remains a challenging topic.

Effect of Perioperative Management on Outcome of Patients after Craniosynostosis Surgery.

Background: Craniosynostosis results from premature closure of one or more cranial sutures, leading to deformed calvaria and craniofacial skeleton at birth. Postoperative complications and outcome in intensive care unit (ICU) is related to surgical method and perioperative management. This study determined the perioperative risk factors, which affect outcome of patients after craniosynostosis surgery.

Lip Reconstruction after Tumor Ablation.

Approximately 25% of all oral cavity carcinomas involve the lips, and the primary management of these lesions is complete surgical resection. Loss of tissue in the lips after resection is treated with a variety of techniques, depending on the extension and location of the defect. Here we review highly accepted techniques of lip reconstruction and some of new trials with significant clinical results.

Supernumerary nostril together with esophageal atresia, imperforate anus and patent ductus arteriosus: a case report and review of the literature.

Supernumerary nostril is an extremely rare congenital entity which results from aberrant embryological development. The review of the literature reveals that only 30 cases of supernumerary nostril have been reported. We report a rare case of supernumerary nostril in association with esophageal atresia, imperforate anus, and patent ductus arteriosus.
