A 47-year-old male with ulcerative colitis developed acute recurrent central serous chorioretinopathy after using corticosteroid enemas and suppositories.
Initial symptoms included blurry vision and the presence of subretinal fluid, which improved after tapering the steroid treatment.
This case highlights a potential link between corticosteroid use via enemas or suppositories and the development of central serous chorioretinopathy, which hasn’t been noted in prior research.
