Introduction: New radiological tools can accurately provide preoperative three-dimensional spatial assessment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). We aimed to determine whether the distribution, volume, shape, and fraction of RCC resected in a cytoreductive nephrectomy associates with survival.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 560 patients undergoing cytoreductive nephrectomy, performing a comprehensive volumetric analysis in eligible patients of all detectable primary and metastatic RCC prior to surgery.

Objectives: To introduce an inexpensive method for objectively evaluating otoscopic visualization of the tympanic membrane wherein learners match what they visualize in standardized patients to tympanic membrane photographs.

Methods: Two standardized patients had photographs taken of their tympanic membranes using a commercially-available digital otoscope. First- and third-year medical students were asked to perform an otoscopic examination on each patient using a conventional handheld otoscope and to match what they saw with the correct tympanic membrane image among distractor photographs belonging to other patients.

A novel 'photoneutron (PN) volume dose equivalent' methodology was hypothesized and applied for the first time for estimating PN second primary cancer (PN-SPC) risks in high-energy X-ray medical accelerators. Novel position-sensitive mega-size polycarbonate dosimeters with 10B converter (with or without cadmium covers) were applied for determining fast, epithermal and thermal PN dose equivalents at positions on phantom surface and depths. The methodology was applied to sites of tumors such as brain, stomach and prostate in 47 patients.

To elucidate the deregulated functional modules that drive clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), we performed comprehensive genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and phosphoproteomic characterization of treatment-naive ccRCC and paired normal adjacent tissue samples. Genomic analyses identified a distinct molecular subgroup associated with genomic instability. Integration of proteogenomic measurements uniquely identified protein dysregulation of cellular mechanisms impacted by genomic alterations, including oxidative phosphorylation-related metabolism, protein translation processes, and phospho-signaling modules.
