However, many hospitals struggle to reliably administer stat medications within 30 min after they are ordered. This study involved developing and evaluating an automated intravenous dosage medication calculation tool (AIVDMCT) for reducing the time between the order and administration of stat medications to children at a pediatric emergency department (PED) in Saudi Arabia.

Nanocomposites of Poly (n-vinylcarbazole) PVK/Ag nanoparticles were prepared by laser ablation of a silver plate in aqueous solution of chlorobenzene. The influences of laser parameters such as; time of irradiation, source power and wavelength (photon energy) on structural, morphological and optical properties have been investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) and Photoluminescence (PL). A correlation between the investigated properties has been discussed.

In this study, we aimed to estimate the prevalence of PD and other types of Parkinsonism in persons aged ≥40 years in the Al Kharga district of Egypt.

We aim to determine the epidemiology of non-fatal cerebrovascular stroke (CVS) and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) in Al Quseir City, Red Sea, Egypt.
Methods: The total population (n=33,285) was screened through a door to door study by three specialists of neurology and 15 female social workers (for demographic data collection).
Background: Stroke is a medical emergency. Nonfatal stroke may cause permanent neurologic damage, complications, and disability. The aim of this study was to determine the epidemiology of nonfatal stroke in Al-Kharga District, New Valley, Egypt.

Although epilepsy has no geographical boundaries, understanding cultural, social, and economic backgrounds is a very important step for interpretation of its epidemiological characteristics. This work aims to study the epidemiological profile of epilepsy in New Valley Governorate and to estimate its magnitude of treatment gap.

Methods: Screening of all subjects aged ≥50 years (n = 8,173 out of 62,583 inhabitants) was done through a door-to-door survey by 3 neurologists, using a short standardized Arabic screening test and a modified Mini-Mental State Examination.
Background: The aim of this research was to determine the prevalence and etiology of acquired ataxia in Al-Kharga district, New Valley, Egypt.
Methods: A population-based study of acquired ataxia was conducted in a defined geographical region with a total population of 62,583. A door-to-door survey was used to identify cases of acquired cerebellar ataxia.
Previous assays for cytidine 3', 5'-cyclic monophosphate (cyclic CMP) have been criticized as being ambiguous. Here a modified RIA protocol, in which the production of assay components has been optimized and a novel trilayer chromatography column separation introduced which successfully separates cyclic CMP from compounds, endogenous to living tissues, which cross-react with anti-cyclic CMP sera, is described. The assay is capable of assaying cyclic CMP between 0.

This separation, involving elution of a novel bilayer column of QAE-Sephadex and alumina with 0.03 M-HCl, has been incorporated into an assay protocol to determine the enzyme-catalysed conversion of radiolabelled CTP to cyclic CMP.

The non-acidic precipitable products after incubation of the tissue preparations with unlabelled, with 14C-single labelled, and with 14C- and 32P-dual labelled CTP were examined by thin-layer chromatography and high-pressure liquid chromatography, isotopic ratio determination, UV absorbance spectrophotometry, selective hydrolysis with nucleotidase, phosphodiesterase and acid, and by fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry with mass-analysed ion kinetic energy spectrum scanning. In addition to cyclic CMP and unchanged CTP, the products of the reaction were found to include cytidine monophosphate (CMP) and cytidine diphosphate (CDP) together with four novel cytidine compounds identified as cytidine 3',5'-cyclic pyrophosphate, cytidine 2'-monophosphate 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate, cytidine 2'-O-aspartyl-3',5'-cyclic monophosphate and cytidine 2'-O-glutamyl-3',5'-cyclic monophosphate.

Rat liver, kidney, heart, spleen and lung tissues were subjected to a sequential purification procedure involving freeze-clamping, perchlorate extraction, alumina and Sephadex ion-exchange chromatography and preparative electrophoresis. The samples thus obtained co-chromatographed with authentic cyclic UMP, cyclic IMP and cyclic dTMP on t.
