A rare case of successful endoscopic management of a fibroepithelial polyp with intussusception of the ureter and periodic prolapse into bladder.

Fibroepithelial polyps are traditionally managed by open surgery with resection of the polyp and its stalk or partial resection of the ureter.

A rare case of pelviureteric junction obstruction in the uncrossed kidney of a crossed fused renal ectopia.

Crossed renal ectopia with fusion is an extremely rare congenital anomaly with few reported cases of pelviureteric junction obstruction, which often involves the crossed-over kidney. To our knowledge, we describe the second case in literature to report an uncrossed kidney with pelviureteric junction obstruction and giant hydronephrosis, which obstructs the pelviureteric junction of the crossed-over kidney. The grossly hydronephrotic kidney was found to be poorly functioning and an aberrant crossing vessel was considered to be potentially involved, raising both diagnostic and management challenges.

Large prostatic stones with staghorn renal calculus in a 61-year-old man: an unusual presentation of uncommon disease.

Prostatic parenchymal calculi are common in ageing men who are evaluated for benign prostatic hyperplasia or prostate cancer. Giant prostatic calculi are very rare, usually associated with local predisposing factors for urinary stasis and infections, and traditionally managed by open surgery. We present the first case of its kind to be associated with a concurrent staghorn nephrolithiasis, and removed successfully by endoscopic approach using an access sheath through the urethra.

Unusual variant of inverted Y ureteral duplication with an ipsilateral seminal vesicle cyst and renal dysgenesis.

Inverted Y malformation is a rare variant of ureteral duplication with a marked female predominance. We describe a case of inverted Y ureteral duplication with concurrent ectopic ureteral insertion into a seminal vesicle cyst, a ureterocoele and renal dysgenesis, which occurred in a 29-year-old man with lower urinary tract symptoms, haematospermia and postcoital discomfort. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case with this constellation of urogenital abnormalities.

Pomegranate and licorice juices modulate metformin pharmacokinetics in rats.

Objectives: Food or drinks may significantly alter the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs which may lead to adverse events. A drug such as metformin is widely used to regulate plasma glucose level and pomegranate and licorice have been identified to help in type-2 diabetes management. However, the interactions of the latter on metformin pharmacokinetics were not studied.

Upper urinary tract lipoma: A case report.
