Article Synopsis
  • - Lacteocrumenasia is a rare complication that can occur after cataract surgery, classified as a late-onset capsular block syndrome (CBS) and often associated with myopia, though its exact cause remains unclear.
  • - A case study of a 62-year-old male revealed that after treatment with Nd-YAG laser to address CBS, there was an improvement in vision (over 1.0 diopters), despite minimal changes in the depth of the intraocular lens as measured by AS-OCT.
  • - The findings suggest that, unlike early-onset CBS where myopia is linked to the lens' positioning, late-onset CBS may not involve abnormal lens positioning, as indicated by the stable lens depth in this case

Article Synopsis
  • This study focuses on a 35-year-old man with Tourette syndrome whose condition worsened in adulthood, leading to serious eye issues including bilateral lens luxation and retinal detachment due to self-injury.
  • The patient experienced vision problems and underwent multiple surgeries for lens extraction and retinal detachment, but complications arose, including hemorrhage and recurrent retinal detachment.
  • The case highlights the need to consider Tourette syndrome in adults with unexplained eye injuries, especially when self-harm behaviors are present.

This was a prospective study to evaluate the feasibility of the photic phenomena test (PPT) for quantifying glare, halo, and starburst. We compared two presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (IOLs), the Symfony IOL and the PanOptix IOL, as well as the monofocal Clareon IOL in 111 IOL-implanted eyes of 111 patients who underwent the PPT 1 month postoperatively. The reproducibility of photic phenomena with the PPT was assessed in 39 multifocal IOL-implanted eyes of 20 patients and among the examiners.
