Objective: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a plasma cell malignancy characterized by abnormal plasma cell proliferation in the bone marrow. Circulating exosomal miRNA-451 is associated with the progression of many tumors, but the relationship between its expression and MM has not been reported. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical value of miRNA-451 as a biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis of multiple myeloma.

Learning English as a second language (ESL) has garnered significant attention from researchers and practitioners over the past few decades, with numerous ESL learning outcomes examined in the literature. However, self-sustained learning (SSL), a crucial factor in promoting students' sustained learning and development within a sustainable society, has long been overlooked. To deepen the understanding of SSL, especially in the context of ESL in China, this study examined the direct and indirect effects of intercultural communicative skills, language mindset, and positive L2 self on sustained English learning among 1238 Chinese college students through descriptive statistics and a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) mediation analysis.

The Moderation Effect of Approach Motivation Between Schizotypy and Creative Ideational Behavior.

Introduction: The schizotypy-creativity link has been studied from different perspectives over the past few decades, yet the results of this relationship are inconsistent in the literature. Previous studies have suggested that two basic motivational systems-Behavioral Inhibition System (BIS, avoidance motivation) and Behavioral Activation System (BAS, approach motivation)-underlie the relationship between schizotypy and creativity. Few empirical studies, however, have examined how the relationship interacts with other variables.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a blood system malignancy where sirtuin 5 (SIRT5) is abnormally expressed in AML cell lines. This study aimed to investigate the SIRT5 effects on the viability and apoptosis of AML cell lines. The mRNA and protein expression levels of succinylation regulatory enzyme in clinical samples and AML cell lines were detected by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blotting while cell viability was measured using cell counting kit-8 assay.

The purposes of the current study were to examine the effects of cognitive and reading skills (i.e., working memory [WM], oral language development [OLD], and reading skills) on second language (L2) writing performance as well as the changes in these relationships across different grades among Spanish-speaking children learning English.

The climate in which older adults exercise and participate in sport may play a role in promoting a lifetime commitment to exercising. However, little research has examined the relationship of caring (C) and task-involving (TI) climates, motivation, and well-being with respect to older adult athletes. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between Masters swimmers' perceptions of the climate, effort, enjoyment, and flourishing as well as explore the mediating effects of effort and enjoyment on the relationship between climate and flourishing.

A Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the 'Return to Duty Readiness Questionnaire'.

The Readiness to Return to Duty Questionnaire (RDRQ) is a recently developed screening instrument for detecting fear-avoidance behavior in a military musculoskeletal pain population. The RDRQ was developed based on the Fear-Avoidance Model which postulates four factors resulting in overall fear-avoidance behavior. While research investigating the factor structure of the RDRQ does not exist, research investigating the factor structure of other measures of fear avoidance have found evidence of one and two factor solutions.

Adolescent technology-use and creative activities during COVID-19: A qualitative study.

This study investigated how COVID-19 impacted creative adolescent engagement with their creative activities, as well as how they utilized technology to cope with the pandemic. Using qualitative methods, this study was guided by phenomenology using both constructivist and transformative paradigms. Participants were English-speaking adolescents from the Midwest in the United States.

A Qualitative Exploration of Maternal Anxiety: Implications for Helping Professionals.

Objectives: To gain insight into the nature of maternal anxiety among mothers from diverse cultures through exploring the components of maternal anxiety and ways mothers cope with it in order to assist helping professionals in providing psychoeducation and counseling to mothers who experience intense anxiety regarding their children.

Methods: In this qualitative study, 17 mothers participated in cognitive interviews conducted as a part of the maternal anxiety scale development. Data from semi-structured interviews was explored using thematic analysis.

Creative adolescent experiences of education and mental health during COVID-19: A qualitative study.

This qualitative study investigated creative adolescent perceptions of their educational and mental health experiences during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Participants were 25 English-speaking adolescents from the Midwest in the United States. They were identified as creative by their teachers according to known creative profiles.

Community engagement on-site rapid test for chlamydia and gonorrhea among men who have sex with men: a pioneering study in Guangzhou, China.

Background: Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) infections are prevalent among men who have sex with men (MSM) in China. However, compared to syphilis and HIV, the testing rate for chlamydia and gonorrhea remains low. The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate the feasibility for conducting rapid nucleic acid test for chlamydia and gonorrhea in MSM community-based organizations (CBO).

Measurement invariance of the Intensive Parenting Attitudes Questionnaire across gender and race.

Intensive parenting attitudes describe parents' views on child-rearing. Currently, Intensive Parenting Attitudes Questionnaire (IPAQ) is the only measure widely used in the field of family psychology and counseling to assess intensive parenting attitudes. However, it was developed from and validated with samples of predominately White mothers, which raises questions about its validity and generalizability to fathers and parents of other racial groups.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused social and economic turmoil, which has led to enormous strain for many families. Past work with pandemic outbreaks suggests that media attention can increase anxiety and compensatory behaviors. Social isolation can lead to increase in online communication and parents who use social media may be affected by other people's emotions online through what is known as digital emotion contagion (DEC).

College students' recollections of childhood sexual abuse prevention programs and their potential impact on reduction of sexual victimization.

Background: Child sexual abuse prevention programs are offered in many schools globally, but research is scant on whether or not these programs actually decrease the rates of CSA among youth who participate in them.

Objective: This study sought to determine if participation in a CSA prevention program (based on participant recall), in the US or another country, led to lower rates of self-reported past victimization among youth, affected disclosure and effects on sexual satisfaction.

Participants And Setting: One thousand five hundred and two students from an ethnically and racially diverse university in the southeast served as participants.

Assessment of commercially sexually exploited girls upon entry to treatment: Confirmed vs. at risk victims.

Background: Research has documented many risk factors for commercial sexual exploitation of children as well as serious emotional and behavioral consequences for such victims.

Objective: This study aims to provide an understanding of risk factors and symptom presentation of girls who are victims or at risk for commercial sexual exploitation.

Participants And Setting: Ninety-six girls (12-18 years) who were referred to a child advocacy center's specialized treatment program for commercially sexually abused girls served as participants (56 confirmed victims, 40 at risk of commercial sexual exploitation).

Increasing Child Serving Professionals' Awareness and Understanding of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children.

Child serving professionals need increased understanding of the identification and therapeutic needs of child victims of commercial sexual exploitation. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a training program aimed to increase awareness of commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) among professionals likely to encounter victims in their work. Professionals' (N = 227) knowledge level was examined prior to the training, immediately thereafter, and in a 6-12 month follow-up.

Exploring the Role of Race and Gender on Perceived Bystander Ability and Intent: Findings Before and After Exposure to an Online Training Program to Prevent Sexual Assault on Campus.

The current study explores the significance of race and gender on bystander attitudes before and after an online bystander intervention program to prevent sexual assault. A diverse sample of 750 college students participated in an online intervention and participants' perceived bystander intervention ability and intent were assessed. The interaction of participant race and gender had a marginally significant impact on bystander ability and intent baseline scores.

High Schizotypal Individuals Are More Creative? The Mediation Roles of Overinclusive Thinking and Cognitive Inhibition.

Although a theoretical link between positive schizotypy and heightened creativity has been established in the literature, little empirical research has been conducted to examine the underlying cognitive processes that contribute to this association. In addition, previous studies found a negative relationship between positive schizotypy and cognitive inhibition; however, they often used the paradigm of latent inhibition. This study used the paradigm of prepotent response inhibition indicated by Stroop interference effect and examined the mediation effects of overinclusive thinking (OT) and cognitive inhibition on the creativity of schizotypal individuals.
