A selective NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor attenuates behavioral deficits and neuroinflammation in a mouse model of Parkinson's disease.

Nod-like receptor pyrin containing (NLRP)3 inflammasome-mediated neuroinflammation is involved in the pathology of Parkinson's disease (PD), but the roles of other inflammasomes in PD remain unclear. The NLRP3 inhibitor MCC950 exerts neuroprotective effects in several neurological diseases. Using a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro pyridine (MPTP)-induced mouse model with or without intraperitoneal MCC950 administration, we assessed whether specifically the NLRP3 inflammasome is activated in the nigrostriatal system and whether MCC950 has therapeutic potential in this PD model.

The biomarkers and potential pathogenesis of lung cancer related cerebral hemorrhage.

Cerebral hemorrhage is one of the common complications in patients with lung cancer (LC). Although cancer related cerebral hemorrhage was aware, the pathogenesis and biomarkers of lung cancer related cerebral hemorrhage (LCRCH) remained not well known. The aim of this study was to investigate the pathogenesis and plasma biomarkers of LCRCH.

Biomarkers of gastric cancer-related ischemic stroke and its underlying pathogenesis.

This study aimed to investigate the biomarkers and underlying pathogenesis of ischemic stroke in patients with gastric cancer (GC).Patients with active gastric cancer who had experienced acute ischemic stroke without conventional vascular risk factors (gastric cancer-related stroke [GCS] group) and visited The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University and First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from January 2003 to December 2016 were retrospectively enrolled. The patients' clinical features and laboratory findings were compared with those of age-, sex-, and disease progression-matched patients with GC without ischemic stroke (GC group) who had been admitted to the same hospital during the same period (GCS:GC ratio = 1:2).

An association study of DRD2 gene polymorphisms with schizophrenia in a Chinese Han population.

Dopamine signaling is strongly implicated in the etiology of schizophrenia (SZ). Because of the essential role dopamine D2 receptor (DRD2) in dopamine signaling, DRD2 gene has been regarded as one of the top candidate genes for SZ. However, the findings from linkage and association analyses on this gene are mixed and largely inconsistent across various studies.
