Anaplastic lymphoma kinase-positive large B-cell lymphoma (ALK LBCL) is a rare and highly aggressive lymphoma with characteristic ALK rearrangements. Various fusion genes involving ALK have been demonstrated, but the influence of the ALK fusion partners on ALK protein expression and the genetic characteristics of ALK LBCL remain relatively unknown. In this study, we conducted an extensive clinicopathological and molecular analysis on seven cases of ALK LBCL to explore the correlation between ALK fusion genes and ALK protein expression, thereby enriching the genetic characteristics of this tumour.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists found that a gene called histone methyltransferase is often changed in a type of cancer called diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
  • Out of 761 DLBCL patients studied, about 19% had these gene changes, which were linked to more severe cancer stages and lower chances of survival.
  • In experiments with mouse models, researchers discovered that these gene changes led to faster tumor growth by affecting how certain immune cells traveled to the tumor.

Objective: Unilateral primary aldosteronism (PA) includes aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA), unilateral adrenal hyperplasia, and unilateral multiple nodules. The correlation of multiple nodules, especially genotypic and pathological characteristics, remains unknown. KCNJ5 mutation accounts for 60-80% of unilateral PA, so we aimed to explore the correlation of KCNJ5 somatic mutation and CYP11B1/CYP11B2 staining in multiple nodules in unilateral PA.
