This study investigated the protective effect of arachidonic acid (ARA) against the allograft-induced stress response in Pinctada fucata martensii by characterizing pearl production traits and changes in genes and lipids during postoperative care. Survival and pearl production traits were higher in the ARA treatment group (ARAG) than in the control group (CG). There were 1536 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in CG-1d vs ARAG-1d and 833 DEGs in CG-3d vs ARAG-3d.

Background: Accumulating evidence suggests that matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) 12 plays a detrimental role in cerebro-cardiovascular diseases, including ischemic stroke (IS). Previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS) correlated the rs660599 variant to IS risk in Europeans. However, this association is yet to be elucidated in the Chinese population.

The current study was conducted aimed at exploring the clinical characteristics and distinguishing factors of patients with the novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) complicated with active pulmonary tuberculosis. A total of 354 patients with COVID-19 in our hospital from November 2022 to February 2023 were included in the present study, of whom 87 patients were also combined with active pulmonary tuberculosis. Significant differences were found in fever, fatigue, nasal congestion, nasal discharge, sore throat, expectoration, and weight loss between the two groups (p < 0.

The frequency at which organisms are exposed to hypoxic conditions in aquatic environments is increasing due to coastal eutrophication and global warming. To reveal the effects of long-term hypoxic stress on metabolic changes of pearl oyster, commonly known as Pinctada (Pinctada fucata martensii), the present study performed the integrated analysis of transcriptomics and metabolomics to investigate the global changes of genes and metabolites following 25 days hypoxia challenge. Transcriptome analysis detected 1108 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the control group and the hypoxia group.

During pearl culture, the excess immune responses may induce nucleus rejection and death of pearl oysters after transplantation. To better understand the immune response and pearl formation, lipidomic analysis was applied to investigate changes in the serum lipid profile of pearl oyster following transplantation. In total, 296 lipid species were identified by absolute quantitation.

Background: Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) and solute carrier organic anion transporter family member 1B1 (SLCO1B1) regulate lipid metabolism. However, the relationship between genetic polymorphisms of APOE and SLCO1B1 and cerebral infarction (CI) remains unclear.

Methods: A total of 938 CI patients and 1028 control participants were included in the study.

Background: Overdistension of the lungs is a cause of ventilator-induced lung injury. In meconium aspiration syndrome, irregular overdistension of the lungs often occurs.

Objectives: We investigated whether surfactant replacement could restore the terminal airspaces in the lungs that had been distended after meconium aspiration.
