Following the publication of the above paper, a concerned reader drew to the Editor's attention that Fig. 3 on p. 664, showing TUNEL assay data relating to apoptosis of the cell line under investigation in this paper, contained apparent anomalies, including repeated patternings of certain cells both within and between the data panels, such that it would have been difficult to have attributed these anomalies to coincidence.

Repeated-sprint training in hypoxia (RSH) has been shown to boost team-sport players' repeated-sprint ability (RSA). Whether players' global inspiratory muscle (IM) and core muscle (CM) functions would be altered concomitantly with RSH was not reported. This study was designed to compare the concomitant alternations in players' RSA and their IM and CM functions during a team-sport-specific intermittent exercise protocol (IEP) before and after the intervention.

In the field of nonlinear optics and physical quantity detection, the use of the second harmonic wave (SHW) generated in ferroelectric crystals is proposed to realize multi-physical quantity detection with the Janus property. In view of the single physical quantity detected by the current research and the single application scenario, this paper proposes a multi-functional and novel nonlinear Janus metastructure (NJMS), which exploits the SHW to achieve highly sensitive multi-physical quantity detection in the terahertz frequency range and shows Janus properties in both the forward and backward directions of the system. The NJMS is realized to detect refractive indices, thicknesses, and angles with different modes in the forward and backward directions.

A novel methodology is introduced for the computation of stress-induced surface acoustic wave velocity shifts in piezoelectric resonators including quartz, lithium niobate and langasite resonators. The numerical framework has been verified through a comparative analysis of experimental and Finite Element Method (FEM) results for quartz resonators. This approach introduces the combined capabilities of COMSOL Multiphysics and MATLAB, facilitated by LiveLink, to systematically calculate all parameters contributing to the perturbation integral.

Sensors based on inorganic nanomaterials for the detection of human body fluids show great potential in real-time detection and treatment of human health due to their advantages of small size and easy to wear. Nevertheless, most of the existing sensors have the disadvantage of detecting relatively simple substances and suffer from low sensitivity, which undermines their practical applicability in body fluids detection. In this study, based on the transition metal carbide (TiCT, MXene)/αFeO grid composite structure, a highly sensitive flexible sensor is proposed, which can realize accurate and simultaneous detection of glucose and uric acid (UA) concentration.

In this paper, an innovative one-dimensional graphene hyperstructure (GHS) is proposed, allowing for the concurrent detection of multiple physical parameters in both the fundamental and second harmonic generation. The sensing characteristics of GHS pertaining to magnetic field strength (B), incident electromagnetic wave angle (θ), and graphene thickness (d) are systematically investigated. Moreover, through the incorporation of second harmonic generation alongside fundamental detection, higher resolution and performance are achieved.

In this paper, a kind of plasma metastructures-photonic crystals (PMPC) structure is proposed to investigate the absorption and transmission properties of electromagnetic waves (EWs) incident from opposite directions. The results show that the PMPC can achieve a dual-channel asymmetric absorption-transmission (AAT) phenomenon. At an operating bandwidth (OB) of 2.

2D metal-organic frameworks (2D-MOFs) are an important class of functional porous materials. However, the low porosity and surface area of 2D-MOFs have greatly limited their functionalities and applications. Herein, the rational synthesis of a class of mos-MOFs with molybdenum disulfide (mos) net based on the assembly of trinuclear metal clusters and 3-connected tripodal organic ligands is reported.

  • The study investigates the relationship between dietary antioxidant capacity (DAC) and sarcopenia (muscle loss) in American adults, focusing on meal timing and antioxidant-rich foods.
  • Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) revealed that higher total DAC is negatively correlated with sarcopenia risk, especially when consumed at lunch.
  • Increased intake of vitamins A, E, selenium, and oils is associated with reduced sarcopenia risk and improved muscle strength, but further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Metabolic stress-induced pancreatic β cell senescence plays a pivotal role in the type 2 diabetes progression, and yet the precise molecular mechanisms remain elusive. Through cellular experiments and bioinformatics analyses, we identified aquaporin 1(AQP1)-mediated transmembrane transport of hydrogen peroxide as a key driver of glucolipotoxicity-induced senescence in MIN6 cells. A PPI network analysis was used to cross-reference 17 differentially expressed genes associated with type 2 diabetes from three independent GEO databases with 188 stress-induced senescence-related genes from CellAge.

Deposition in the deep ocean plays a crucial role in the global sink of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), yet observation-based assessments of their biogeochemical cycling are scarce. In this study, surface sediments were collected from deep sea of the Eastern Indian Ocean (2161-4545 m) and analyzed for organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Long-range atmospheric transport was identified as the dominant pathway for OCPs (36.

Absorptive frequency-selective transmission/reflection (AFST/AFSR) metamaterials (MMs) embedded with yttrium-iron-garnet are proposed, capable of achieving angular-insensitive and switchable octave absorption. The season optimization algorithm is utilized to optimize the structural parameters of the MM, thus achieving exceptional angular stability. By adjusting the discrete decreasing magnetic field applied to the MM, it can freely switch between double, triple, quadruple, and fivefold octave absorptions.

Dilatancy is commonly defined as the ratio of the rates of plastic volumetric strain to plastic deviatoric strain, denoted as . Owing to the high modulus of elasticity, the elastic volumetric and deviatoric strain rates under shear stress in conventional cohesionless materials are negligible. Therefore, using the ratio of the rates of total volumetric to deviatoric strain () as an approximation is common in studying stress-dilatancy behavior and calibrating dilatancy model parameters.

Power flow calculation plays a significant role in the operation and planning of modern power systems. Traditional numerical calculation methods have good interpretability but high time complexity. They are unable to cope with increasing amounts of data in power systems; therefore, many machine learning based methods have been proposed for more efficient power flow calculation.

In this study, we investigated the protective effects of astaxanthin (AST) against oxidative stress induced by the combination of azoxymethane (AOM) and dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in colitis-associated cancer (CAC) and TNF-α-induced human colorectal cancer cells (SW480), as well as the underlying mechanism. In vitro experiments revealed that astaxanthin reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and inhibited the expression of Phosphorylated JNK (P-JNK), Phosphorylated ERK (P-ERK), Phosphorylated p65 (P-p65), and the NF-κB downstream protein cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). In vivo experiments showed that astaxanthin ameliorated AOM/DSS-induced weight loss, shortened the colon length, and caused histomorphological changes.

Background: Anti-dopamine receptor 2 (D2R) antibody encephalitis (D2R encephalitis) is a subtype of autoimmune encephalitis (AE). Lesions in affected patients primarily involve the basal ganglia, resulting in a range of psychiatric and movement disorders. A majority of cases reported to date have impacted children or adolescents, whereas we here describe a case of adult-onset D2R encephalitis.
