Yellow-to-green electrochromic color switching plays a key role in the intelligent adaptive camouflage under the visible light environment in future military camouflage applications. Here, we designed and synthesized a soluble electrochromic conjugated pDPTD polymer, mainly based on perylo[1,12-bcd]thiophene and the novel ProDOT groups. The pDPTD polymer displayed a yellow-to-green electrochromism with large optical contrast and fast switching times.

The increasing discharge of antibiotic wastewater leads to increasing water pollution. Most of these antibiotic wastewaters are persistent, strongly carcinogenic, easy to bioaccumulate, and have other similar characteristics, seriously jeopardizing human health and the ecological environment. As a commonly used wastewater treatment technology, non-homogeneous electro-Fenton technology avoids the hazards of HO storage and transportation as well as the loss of desorption and reabsorption.

2D materials, such as graphene, MXenes (metal carbides and nitrides), graphdiyne (GDY), layered double hydroxides, and black phosphorus, are widely used as electrocatalyst supports for alcohol oxidation reactions (AORs) owing to their large surface area and unique 2D charge transport channels. Furthermore, the development of highly efficient electrocatalysts for AORs via tuning the structure of 2D support materials has recently become a hot area. This article provides a critical review on modification strategies to develop 2D material-based electrocatalysts for AOR.

Electrochromic polymer film preparation methods such as spin coating, spray coating, and electrochemical polymerization, are commonly used. At present, developing new film preparation technology is an important aspect in the field of electrochromics. Herein, a continuous self-growing method based on the chemical reaction occurring on the surface of an ITO glass between a metal oxide and organic acid groups was successfully applied to prepare electrochromic polymer films at a mild room temperature.

Reversible color modulation plays a key role in the field of information recording and encryption, but for the common colorful conjugated polymer materials, currently a convenient method to achieve their reversible color modulation is still lacking. Herein, six luminescent conjugated polymers P1 to P6 were successfully designed and synthesized, all of which could realize reversible color modulation through a similar reversible chemical redox behavior accompanied by reversible color and fluorescence changes. The same absorption spectral changes as those under electrochemical redox conditions strongly confirmed that these polymers underwent reversible redox reactions in the Fe and HO system, which happened spontaneously according to the theoretical analysis of the reaction thermodynamics.
