In 2003 and 2006, investigations were made on the age structures of Spodiopogon sibiricus populations as well as the matter productivities and vegetative reproduction capacities of different age-class modules of the populations on the weedy meadow and elm woodland in Songnen Plain of northeast China. At the two habitats, the tillers of S. sibiricus all consisted of 2-3 age classes, and the rhizomes all composed of 4 age classes.

In the title coordination polymer, [HgBr(2)(C(14)H(10)N(4)S(2))](n), the Hg(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by the two N atoms of the pyridyl groups of different 3,6-bis-(2-pyridyl-sulfan-yl)pyridazine ligands and two Br atoms. The bridging function of the cis ligands leads to a helical chain structure along [100].

A new langbeinite-type phosphate: K(2)AlSn(PO(4))(3).

Acta Crystallogr Sect E Struct Rep Online

October 2011

Single crystals of the title compound, dipotassium aluminium tin(IV) tris-[phosphate(V)], K(2)AlSn(PO(4))(3), were synthesized by a high temperature reaction in a platinum crucible. In the structure, the Al(III) and Sn(IV) atoms occupy the same site on a threefold rotation axis with occupational disorder in a 1:1 ratio. In the three-dimensional structure, Al/SnO(6) octa-hedra and PO(4) tetra-hedra are inter-connected via their vertices, yielding a [Al/SnP(3)O(12)](n) framework.

By replacing a part of terbium ions with yttrium ions using doping method, a series of dinuclear complexes of 1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylic acid (H3BTC) and phenanthroline (phen) with different molar ratios of Tb3+ to Y3+ were synthesized in the present paper. Their elemental analysis, rare earth complexometric titration, molar conductivity, IR spectra and UV spectra were studied, and the contents of terbium and yttrium of three doped complexes were measured by a plasma emission spectrophotometer. Their chemical formula is inferred to be (Tb(x)Y(1-x)) (HL)L'Cl x 1/2H2O (x = 0.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of metformin on the apoptosis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cells in vitro and its mechanisms.

Methods: Fluorescent microscopy and flow cytometry were used to examine the changes in the apoptosis of 786-O cells after metformin treatment. The possible signaling molecules involved in this process were analyzed by immunoblot analysis of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling and caspase 9.

In the present paper, the basic principles, the device and the analytical method of the hydrodynamic chromatography (HDC) were summarized, which is most widely used in hydrokinetic chromatography. The application of the hydrodynamic chromatography in the determination of the particle size and size distribution of the particulate drug delivery system was also reviewed. The method can determine the particle size of nano- and micron-scale particulate drug delivery systems rapidly.

Background: The 2007 Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA)/American Thoracic Society (ATS) guidelines defined severe community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) when patients fulfilled three out of nine minor criteria. Whether each of the criteria is of equal weight is not clear. The purpose of this study was to determine the weight of the minor criteria.

Salt, saline-alkali conditions, and drought are major environmental factors limiting plant growth and productivity. The vacuolar H(+)-translocating inorganic pyrophosphatase (V-H(+)-PPase) is an electrogenic proton pump that translocates protons into vacuoles in plant cells. Expression of V-H(+)-PPase increases in plants under a number of abiotic stresses, and is thought to have an important role in adaptation to abiotic stress.

Background And Purpose: The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)δ has been considered a therapeutic target for diabetes and obesity through enhancement of fatty acid oxidation. The present study aimed to characterize the effects of PPARδ agonists during insulin resistance of the whole body, muscle and liver.

Experimental Approach: Wistar rats and C57BL/J6 mice were fed a high fat diet (HF) and then treated with PPARδ agonists NNC61-5920 and GW501516.

In the present paper, the technology of time-resolved fluorescence spectra was investigated in order to improve the sensitivity of the solid-phase time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay. The fluorescence properties, fluorescence intensity and detection method of the novel complexes 4,4'-dibromo-6,6'-bis(N,N-bis(ethoxycarbonylmethyl) amino methyl)-2,2'-bipyridine were investigated through self-developed solid-phase time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay instrument. At the same time, the Eu-TTA-phen and Eu-beta-NTA-TOPO series of Eu(III) compounds were detected.

In higher plants, DREB1/CBF-type transcription factors play an important role in tolerance to low temperatures, drought, and high-salt stress. These transcription factors bind to CRT/DRE elements in promoter regions of target genes, regulating their expression. In this study, we cloned and characterized a novel gene encoding a DREB1 transcription factor from dwarf apple, Malus baccata (GenBank accession number: EF582842).

The paper is aimed to provide a novel index, named as multidimensional spatial triangular area, for the evaluation of the release-absorption correlation of multiple component traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs). The applicability of the method was demonstrated by the example data. The method and standard practice for evaluation of the release-absorption correlation for western medicines with single compound could not be applied to TCMs with multiple components.

MicroRNAs, a type of small non-coding RNA specialized in regulation of gene expression, extensively participate in biological development, cell differentiation, apoptosis, and other cellular processes. MiRNAs evolved independently in different strains and generally conserved in the process of evolution. This review summarized the origin, regulation of methylation, and evolutionary conservation of miRNAs.

Background: The development of coronary collaterals is crucial to survival through acute ischemia. Mild to moderate loss of renal function has been suggested to play a role in this event, but evidential data are scarce. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between mild to moderate renal insufficiency and coronary collateral development in patients with chronic total coronary artery occlusion.
