Traditional Chinese medicine has shown promising results in treating the symptoms of hypertension, a major global health concern not yet fully managed by modern medicine. It is, therefore, of high priority to clarify the altered pathophysiology of hypertension in individuals with liver hyperactivity syndrome (HLYH) in response to effective treatments to better understand this disorder. The primary aim of this study was to construct a personalized syndrome discriminant system based on data capable of informing management strategies prior to the initiation of antihypertensive therapy or the implementation of screening strategies in at-risk HLYH.

Selecting the appropriate solvent system is the key to the successful separation of samples by using countercurrent chromatography. Although high-speed countercurrent chromatography has been widely used in the separation and preparation of natural products, the selection of a solvent system has always been a stumbling block to the application of high-speed countercurrent chromatography. In order to explore a rapid and practical prediction method to select countercurrent chromatography solvent system, five linear prediction models of the Arizona solvent system family (HEMW) was established by using fourteen compounds with different structures and five HPLC columns of different brands.

Three new benzofuran derivatives, namely ribisin E ribisin F along with ribisin G were isolated from the MeOH extract of the fruiting bodies of Their structures were elucidated based on the NMR analysis. Furthermore, the absolute configuration of ribisin E and ribisin G were deduced by the CD calculations, and the absolute configuration of ribisin F was determined by comparing its CD spectrum and specific rotation with the data of known analogues. All compounds exhibited the activity of promoting neurite outgrowth in nerve growth factor (NGF)-ediated PC 12 cell at concentrations ranging from 1 to 30 μM.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and metabolomics were used to analyze and compare two animal models of heart-kidney insomnia, in order to explore a more ideal animal model and preliminarily explore the essence of heart-kidney insomnia. Based on the clinical symptoms and disease characteristics of heart-kidney insomnia, the animal model of heart-kidney insomnia was reproduced through intraperitoneal injection with p-chlorophenylalanine(PCPA) and multi-factor interaction. The animal model of disease-syndrome combination was evaluated by behavioral observation, ELISA and metabolomics.

Essential hypertension (EH) is a risk factor for some severe diseases. This study aimed to screen out serum special proteins and seek interaction between them, which would provide new therapeutic targets and elucidate the comprehensive pathophysiological mechanism for EH. Patients with EH (Group A, = 47) and healthy controls (HC) (Group B, = 47) were recruited in this study.

This study aimed to analyze the endogenous metabolite changes in the serum of mice infected with H1N1 virus after intervention by Mahuang-Xixin-Fuzi decoction (MXF) based on metabolomics method, investigate potential biomarkers and related metabolic pathways, and explore the therapeutic mechanism of MXF through metabolomics technology. Thirty-six Kunming (KM) mice were randomly divided into three groups: normal group, model group and MXF group. Influenza virus H1N1 was used by nasal drip to establish influenza mice model.

Radix Astragali (RA) with slight sweet and warm property is a significant "qi tonifying" herb; it is indicated for the syndrome of dampness stagnancy due to spleen deficiency (DSSD). The purpose of this research was to explore effects of RA and its split components on gene expression profiles related to water metabolism in rats with the DSSD syndrome for identifying components representing property and flavor of RA. The results indicated that RA and its split components, especially polysaccharides component, significantly increased the body weight and the urine volume and decreased the water load index of model rats.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the impact of Pinggan Prescription (PGP) on reducing hypertension in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) through metabonomic and pharmacodynamic approaches.
  • A total of 32 male SHRs were divided into treatment and model groups, with a control group of Wistar rats; the treatment group received PGP, while others received saline to assess blood pressure and specific biomarkers.
  • Results showed that PGP significantly lowered blood pressure in SHRs, highlighted changes in the levels of Angiotensin II and cAMP, and identified five potential biomarkers linked to metabolic changes due to hypertension and treatment effects.*
