Background: Translocator protein (TSPO) is an 18-kDa transmembrane protein found primarily in the mitochondrial outer membrane, and it is implicated in inflammatory responses, such as cytokine release. It has been reported to be a high-affinity ligand of TSPO and to exert anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects in our recent studies.
