A 28-year-old man involved in a serious motorcycle accident was admitted to our hospital with comminuted fractures of the ipsilateral femoral shaft and tibial shaft, as well as multiple fractures of the right lower limb, including the proximal fibula, medial malleolus, and the third and fourth distal metatarsals. In addition, the patient suffered a skin contusion and laceration of the right foot. On the first day of admission, this patient suddenly developed tachycardia, pyrexia, and tachypnoea, and was immediately transferred to the ICU for further treatment due to a CT-diagnosed pulmonary fat embolism (FE).

Background: The interaction between motor dysfunction and respiratory functions in stroke patients with hemiplegia are not fully understood, particularly with regard to the relationship between changes in trunk control, balance, and daily activities, and changes in respiratory muscle strength and pulmonary volume. Investigating this relationship will facilitate the optimization of stroke rehabilitation strategies.

Methods: Clinical history data were collected from 134 patients to analyze the relationship between motor function scales scores and spirometric data.

Objective: The third generation of antiepileptic medication (ASM) perampanel (PER), is mostly used as an add-on treatment for refractory epilepsy patients, and rarely used as a monotherapy. This study aims to observe the efficacy and assess the cognitive effects of PER monotherapy in patients with self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (SeLECTS).

Patients And Methods: Through screening, 86 patients who were first diagnosed with SeLECTS and treated with PER monotherapy were included in this study.

We report an uncommon case of ipsilateral comminuted distal radius and comminuted radial head fractures with posterolateral elbow dislocation. A 51-year-old female had a fall that resulted in a comminuted distal radius fracture with an ipsilateral comminuted radial head fracture and posterolateral dislocation of the elbow. Clinical evaluation revealed that her left elbow was posteriorly dislocated and her left wrist was deformed.

Objective: To analyze the gene mutations of children with juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) and their correlation with clinical characteristics.

Methods: The genetic mutation results and clinical data of 19 children with JMML in Fujian from January 2015 to December 2018 were collected and analyzed retrospectively. According to the results of gene mutation, they were divided into PTPN11 gene mutation group and non-PTPN11 gene mutation group, and the clinical characteristics and prognosis of children with JMML between two groups were compared.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous small non-coding RNAs (19-25 nucleotides) that negatively regulate gene expression at the post transcriptional level by binding to complementary target sequences in the target mRNA. miRNAs play an important role in a wide range of biological processes, including organ development. Recent studies have shown that some miRNAs are highly expressed in the kidney and are closely related to kidney development and diseases, suggesting that miRNAs are important regulators in kidney physiology and pathology.

In this study, we prepared PLLA/bpV(pic) microspheres, a bpV(pic) controlled release system and examined their ability to protect nerve cells and promote axonal growth. PLLA microspheres were prepared by employing the o/w single emulsification-evaporation technique. Neural stem cells and dorsal root ganglia were divided into 3 groups in terms of the treatment they received: a routine medium group (cultured in DMEM), a PLLA microsphere group (DMEM containing PLLA microspheres alone) and a PLLA/bpV(pic) group [DMEM containing PLLA/bpV(pic) microspheres].
