Aims: To investigate the characteristics and diagnostic performance of quantitative computed tomography (QCT) parameters in eosinophilic chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.

Methods: High-resolution CT scans of COPD patients were retrospectively analyzed, and various emphysematous parenchyma measurements, including lung volume (LC), lung mean density (LMD), lung standard deviation (LSD), full-width half maximum (FWHM), and lung relative voxel number (LRVN) were performed. The QCT parameters were compared between eosinophilic and noneosinophilic COPD patients, using a definition of eosinophilic COPD as blood eosinophil values ≥ 300 cells·µL on at least three times.

Herein we report the discovery of a novel biaryl amide series as selective inhibitors of hematopoietic protein kinase 1 (HPK1). Structure-activity relationship development, aided by molecular modeling, identified indazole as a core for further exploration because of its outstanding enzymatic and cellular potency coupled with encouraging kinome selectivity. Late-stage manipulation of the right-hand aryl and amine moieties surmounted issues of selectivity over TRKA, MAP4K2, and STK4 as well as generating compounds with balanced ADME profiles and promising pharmacokinetics.

The use of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy for the detection of substances in non-volatile systems, such as edible oil and biological cells, is an important issue in the fields of food safety and biomedicine. Objectives: Establish a complete and efficient method for the preparation of cis-5-hydroxy-L-pipecolic acids (cis-5HPA), including biotransformation and isomers separation and purification.

Results: For non-heme Fe(II)/α-KG-dependent dioxygenases, α-ketoglutarate (α-KG) has great influence on the stability of Fe(II) ions, which is also the basic of the hydroxylation reaction to the substrate. L-pipecolic acids (L-Pip) was converted to cis-5HPA by whole-cell catalysis in water, which can reduce the loss of Fe(II) ions.

We discuss a thermodynamic process with information and justify a general form of fluctuation relation. It shows that the fluctuation relation is valid whatever it is the temperature or Hamiltonian that drives the system out of equilibrium state. Methods: A total of 2836 subjects (ICH/normal, 1836/1000) from three institutions were included in this ethically approved retrospective study, with a total of 76,621 slices from non-contrast head CT scans.
