Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the leading cause of death worldwide, and reperfusion therapy is a critical therapeutic approach to reduce myocardial ischemic injury and minimize infarct size. However, ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) itself also causes myocardial injury, and inflammation is an essential mechanism by which it leads to myocardial injury, with macrophages as crucial immune cells in this process. Macrophages are innate immune cells that maintain tissue homeostasis, host defence during pathogen infection, and repair during tissue injury.

Methods: Treatment-naive pediatric patients with endoscopically active CD treated with EEN alone as induction therapy were retrospectively enrolled from January 1, 2017 to June 30, 2022. The simple endoscopic score for CD (SES-CD) was employed to score disease activity in the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract (esophagus, stomach, duodenum), rectum, left colon, transverse colon, right colon, and terminal ileum.
Purpose: The study aims at exploring the impact of dietary intake on the relief of bowel dysfunction among patients with rectal cancer after the sphincter-saving surgery.
Methods: A prospective cohort design was used. A total of 299 patients were followed up at a tertiary hospital in East China between April 2020 and July 2021.
Objectives: Intestinal Behçet's disease (BD) predominantly affects the ileocecal region and is currently diagnosed based on endoscopic features and clinical manifestations. It is difficult to distinguish between intestinal BD and Crohn's disease (CD) due to similar patient populations, gastrointestinal involvement, extraintestinal manifestations, and long-term recurrent course. In this study we aimed to compare the clinicopathological and immunophenotypic features of intestinal BD to CD.

The phage displayed short latency (18 min), long lysis period (212 min), and high lysis volume (1.47 × 10 PFU/each cell).

The emergence of drug-resistant strains poses a threat to human public health and economic development. Therefore, there are increasing needs to develop new technologies in controlling multidrug-resistant strains and to evaluate their practical efficiency in seafood or mariculture.

Methods: A total of 179 patients underwent carotid computed tomography angiography (CTA), and 219 carotid arteries with a plaque at the carotid bifurcation or proximal to the internal carotid artery were selected. The patients were divided into two groups; patients with symptoms of transient ischemic attack after CTA and patients without symptoms of transient ischemic attack after CTA.

The quinolone ciprofloxacin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic used for human medicine as well as the aquaculture industry. The emergence of ciprofloxacin-resistant strains is currently a global public health concern. However, the mechanism of ciprofloxacin resistance in is not yet fully clarified.

This study aims at exploring the specific association between perioperative intake of foods and nutrients and the improvement of LARS within the first 6 months after surgery.
Methods: This study applied a prospective cohort design.

At the seedling stage, the salt-sensitive variety, namely, Caoyou 1 and the salt-tolerant variety, namely, Baiyan 2 were treated with 70 and 100 mM of salt, followed by the foliar application of 0.75 mM Spd or distilled water.

Here, an oligothiophene material is adopted as a p-type dopant in the hole-transport layer, considering its cruciform cross-center structure, precise molecular weight, and high purity. Compared with the dopant-free counterpart, hole transport capability at the optimal doping level exhibits a significant improvement, producing a boosted external quantum efficiency (EQE) and luminance up to 20.

Methods: This study applied a descriptive qualitative design. Thirty-six patients with rectal cancer were given semi-structured interviews in mainland China from February to July in 2019 after sphincter-saving surgery.
Dietary self-management is an important strategy for controlling bowel symptoms after sphincter-saving surgery; however, the dietary factors influencing bowel symptoms are not completely clear. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the specific consumption of food components and bowel symptoms. This study applied a cross-sectional study design.

Human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) is a bone-growth regulatory factor involved in the formation of bone and cartilage, and has been recogn ized as an attractive therapeutic target for a variety of bone diseases and defects. Here, we report successful design of a head-to-tail cyclic peptide based on crystal structure to target BMP2. Computational alanine scanning identifies two hotspot regions at the crystal complex interface of BMP2 with its type-IA receptor; promising one is stripped from the interface to derive a linear self-inhibitory peptide RPS2 that covers residues 78-94 of the receptor protein.

Background: Only a small number of patients have utilized the home-based end-of-life care service in Shanghai that has been offered since 2012. This study explores how home-based end-of-life care is delivered in community health service centers in Shanghai and examines the difficulties in the delivery of the care.
Methods: This was a qualitative study in which data were collected from interviews and analyzed using qualitative content analysis.
The dedifferentiation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) is a key event in the pathogenesis of vascular remodeling-related disease. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of shexiangbaoxin (SXBX) pill, a traditional Chinese medicinal formula on VSMCs dedifferentiation and its potential mechanisms. High-fat diet (HFD) was introduced to lipoprotein receptor-deficient (LDLR) mice to generate hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy), and plasma Hcy and lipid levels were analyzed.

We report on the development and testing of a proof of principle water temperature measurement system deployed on an unmanned aerial system (UAS), for field measurements of thermal discharges into water. The primary elements of the system include a quad-copter UAS to which has been integrated, for the first time, both a thermal imaging infrared (IR) camera and an immersible probe that can be dipped below the water surface to obtain vertical water temperature profiles. The IR camera is used to take images of the overall water surface to geo-locate the plume, while the immersible probe provides quantitative temperature depth profiles at specific locations.
