Background: Fractures of the long bones in the lower limbs are injuries that cause severe to extremely severe pain, posing risks to the patient's circulation, respiration, and even life. Pain management for patients with lower limb long bone fractures in the emergency department is critically important.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of ultrasound-guided femoral and sciatic nerve blocks in patients with lower limb long bone fractures in the emergency department (ED).

Introduction And Importance: Primary malignant pericardial mesothelioma is an extremely rare disease with a poor prognosis. Currently, there are no specific guidelines for diagnosis and treatment in Vietnam and international countries for this disease, so treatment experiences from previous clinical cases are very important in the management of this disease.

Background: The co-occurrence of substance use disorder and mental disorder, known as dual diagnosis, has a distressingly high prevalence among individuals grappling with either of these conditions. Mood disorders, especially depression, constitute a substantial burden for People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) and a significant public health concern in Vietnam. Identifying risk factors for depression in PWID is imperative for the development of targeted interventions.

HCV RNA Quantification by a Domestic Commercial Assay: A Case Study among People Who Inject Drugs in Vietnam.

The desired performance of nucleic acid testing (NAT) may vary if used for disease diagnosis or for the evaluation of the therapeutic efficacy of a treatment, although in most cases, the same assay is used. However, these tests may not be affordable in many situations including in low/middle income countries that in response have developed domestic assays. Direct-acting antiviral (DAA) regimens are now widely used to treat chronic HCV infection. Although side effects to treatment are currently rare, the long-term effects such as suspicions of de novo hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) occurrence or HCC recurrence and cardiac defects are still up for debate.

Aberrant artery embolization prior to pulmonary sequestration surgery: A case series report.

Objectives: Pulmonary sequestration is a rare congenital malformation, and part of its treatment requires the removal of the aberrant artery by surgical means.

Materials And Methods: Five patients treated at Military Hospital 103 - Department of Thoracic Disease were diagnosed with PS via CT scan, MS-CT, and DSA, and histopathological data were evaluated retrospectively between January and December 2019.

Results: In all patients, surgery is the preferred option, with two cases of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (one lobectomy and one wedge resection), and three cases of hybrid video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (adhesive inflammation was observed, the bronchus is challenging to reveal, to resect, and tend to bleed when resecting).

A method for suppressing respiratory noise in impedance cardiography and comprehensive assessment of noise reduction performance.

Cardiac Output (CO) is a significant hemodynamic index for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Impedance cardiography (ICG) is one of the non-invasive methods widely investigated for its simplicity, cost-effectiveness and ability to measure cardiac output continuously. However, measured ICG signals are contaminated by the respiratory artefact leading to difficulties in determining characteristic points in the signal waveform, thereby lowering the accuracy of measurement results.

Modified electrode placements for measurement of hemodynamic parameters using impedance cardiography.

Measuring and monitoring hemodynamic parameters has brought many benefits in supporting diagnosis and treatment for cardiovascular patients. There are many advantages to measuring hemodynamic parameters by non-invasive technique based on impedance cardiography (ICG) such as simplicity, real-time and low cost. However, the electrode positions of this method are very difficult to implement in cases where the patient has to use multiple medical devices at the same time, especially for patients on active treatment and resuscitation.

Microneedling Therapy for Atrophic Acne Scar: Effectiveness and Safety in Vietnamese Patients.

Risk Behaviors for HIV and HCV Infection Among People Who Inject Drugs in Hai Phong, Viet Nam, 2014.

We examined the potential for HIV and hepatitis C (HCV) transmission across persons who inject drugs (PWID), men-who-have-sex-with-men (MSM) and female commercial sex workers (CSW) PWID and the potential for sexual transmission of HIV from PWID to the general population in Hai Phong, Viet Nam. Using respondent driven and convenience sampling we recruited 603 participants in 2014. All participants used heroin; 24% used non-injected methamphetamine.

Investigation of cosmic-ray induced background of Germanium gamma spectrometer using GEANT4 simulation.

In this article, a GEANT4 Monte Carlo simulation toolkit was used to study the response of the cosmic-ray induced background on a High-Purity Germanium (HPGe) gamma spectrometer in the wide energy range, up to 100MeV. The natural radiation background measurements of the spectrometer were carried out in the energy region from 0.04 to 50MeV.

Exploiting Language Models to Classify Events from Twitter.

Classifying events is challenging in Twitter because tweets texts have a large amount of temporal data with a lot of noise and various kinds of topics. In this paper, we propose a method to classify events from Twitter. We firstly find the distinguishing terms between tweets in events and measure their similarities with learning language models such as ConceptNet and a latent Dirichlet allocation method for selectional preferences (LDA-SP), which have been widely studied based on large text corpora within computational linguistic relations.

Monitoring human tick-borne disease risk and tick bite exposure in Europe: available tools and promising future methods.

Ticks are the main vector for infectious disease pathogens in both humans and animals, and tick-borne diseases are currently spreading throughout Europe. Various surveillance methods have been developed to estimate the burden and risk of tick-borne diseases and host exposure to tick bites. The ultimate aims of these approaches are to determine the risk level of a tick-borne disease in a given area, determine its health priority, identify the at-risk population and propose specific countermeasures or complementary studies as needed.

Trends in medical visits and surgery for otitis media among children.

We conducted a population-based descriptive study of medical visits and surgical interventions for otitis media among 3- and 7-year-old children from the Montreal, Canada, area over the period 1981 to 1983. The number of children seen annually for otitis media increased over that time. An increase in the event rate of otitis was observed; there was also an increase in the rate of myringotomy with ventilatory tube insertion.
