Article Synopsis
  • * This study explores advanced desalination using cyclopentane and R134a as guest molecules to effectively remove salts from saline water, focusing on their efficiency and formation processes.
  • * Results indicated high removal rates of over 75% for ions and 70% for total dissolved solids after hydrate treatment, supporting the potential for larger-scale desalination solutions in the region.

This study investigates the removal characteristics of a hydrate-based water purification process used to remove the major radionuclides monitored in nuclear accident areas. The effect of the coexistence of salt ions on the removal of radioactive materials is also evaluated. Previous studies have found existing processes such as ion exchange and membrane separation to be reliable methods for radionuclide removal from contaminated water.
