Pomegranate seeds, a by-product of pomegranate processing, are gaining attention in food industries due to their high antioxidant activity. However, the lack of quality markers reflecting activity and spatial characteristics limits their utilization and product stability. In this research, a selective and sensitive method integrating ultra performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry with feature-based molecular networking, and desorption electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry imaging developed to identify components and locate in-situ images of quality markers via spatial metabolomics analysis.

Although an E3 ligase MDM2 is the major negative regulator of the p53 tumor suppressor, a growing body of evidence suggests its p53-independent oncogenic properties. In particular, MDM2 has been shown to regulate serine metabolism independently of p53 status in several types of neoplasia, including NSCLC. Using the GSEA approach and publicly available molecular data on NSCLC tumors, our bioinformatics data suggest that MDM2 affects a number of metabolic genes, particularly those encoding components of the electron transport chain (ETC).

Two new acylphloroglucinol-nerolidol meroterpenoids (APNMs) [(±)-1 and (±)-2], with a skeleton of mixed sesquiterpene and dimeric acylphloroglucinol biosynthetic origin, were isolated from the medicinal pteridophyte . Inspired by the proposed biosynthetic pathway, we initially completed the biomimetic syntheses of eight optically active APNMs (1-8) in a one-pot domino reaction. The structures of APNMs 1-8 including their absolute configurations were unambiguously established by a combination of NMR analysis, ECD calculations, and synthetic methods.

Acute pancreatitis is one of the severe complications of hypertriglyceridemia, which needs to be recognized early to provide appropriate treatment. Hypertriglyceridemia-induced pancreatitis has several causes, in which fertilization (IVF) is a rare etiology that is becoming increasingly popular. We report a 33-year-old female patient with a history of hypertension who has failed an IVF cycle and started a new IVF procedure 1 month before admission.

The utilization of diagnostic-integrated molecules can enable targeted delivery and controlled release to significantly enhance therapeutic effectiveness and minimize toxic effects. Herein, we developed a novel class of glutathione (GSH)-activated bifunctional molecules that respond to elevated levels of GSH in tumor microenvironment. These bifunctional molecules retained the pharmacodynamic effects of parent molecules and mitigated cytotoxicity.

Article Synopsis
  • Regulating the solid-electrolyte-interphase (SEI) composition is crucial for developing high-energy density lithium metal batteries, and this research presents a method to create a LiF-rich SEI for stability.
  • The study utilizes tris(4-aminophenyl) amine-pyromeletic dianhydride covalent organic frameworks (TP-COF) as an interlayer on the lithium metal anode, which enhances the reaction with FSI and promotes the formation of the desired SEI.
  • The resulting lithium metal battery, featuring a LiNiCoMnO|TP-COF@Li configuration, achieves impressive performance metrics, including high energy density (473.4 Wh/kg) and stable cycling over

Background: Refractory anaphylaxis poses an ongoing, lethal hypersensitivity response that unpredictably involves multiple organs despite appropriate intramuscular (IM) adrenaline injections. Studies on the association of the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) concerning anaphylactic severity have yet to be carried out. The study aimed to evaluate the association between blood PLR and NLR levels and refractory anaphylaxis.

Introduction: Hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis (HTG-AP) presents a therapeutic challenge with no currently definitive treatment, including therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) and insulin. TPE aims to quickly reduce serum triglyceride (TG); however, its efficacy lacks convincing evidence. Intravenous insulin is a promising and convenient alternative, while comparative data is limited.

Background: Critically ill patients are at high risk of multiple organ failure syndrome (MODS) and gastrointestinal (GI) injury and dysfunction, which are associated with increased mortality rates. The acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI) scale has shown promise in assessing GI dysfunction. However, the combined utility of AGI with established disease severity scores remains unclear.

Radioactivity in coastal sediments in northern Vietnam was examined using data from five sediment cores to assess radioactivity concentrations and radiation risk indices. Radiation risk indices included radium equivalent activity (Ra), the absorbed dose rate (ADR), the annual effective dose equivalent (AEDE), the activity utilization index (AUI), the external hazard index (H), the representative level gamma index (I), and the annual gonadal effective dose rate (AGDE). The radioactivity concentrations of K, Th, Ra, U, and Cs were 567, 56.

In Vietnam, the stems and roots of the Rutaceous plant Paramignya trimera (Oliv.) Burkill (known locally as "Xáo tam phân") are widely used to treat liver diseases such as viral hepatitis and acute and chronic cirrhosis. In an effort to search for Vietnamese natural compounds capable of inhibiting coronavirus based on molecular docking screening, two new dimeric coumarin glycosides, namely cis-paratrimerin B (1) and cis-paratrimerin A (2), and two previously identified coumarins, the trans-isomers paratrimerin B (3) and paratrimerin A (4), were isolated from the roots of P.

Secondhand smoke (SHS) has detrimental effects on community health, including coronary heart diseases, stroke, lung cancer etc. This manuscript exploited data from the Vietnam Population-based Provincial Global Adult Tobacco Survey (PGATS) in 2022 to update the prevalence of adult exposure to SHS and associated socio-demographic factors. With the sample size of 71,981 adults aged 15+ throughout 30 provinces and cities in Vietnam, data was collected using the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) questionnaire.

Conventional tumor diagnosis and treatment approaches have significant limitations in clinical application, whereas personalized theranostistic nanoplatforms can ensure advanced diagnosis, precise treatment, and even a good prognosis in cancer. Tumor microenvironment (TME)-targeted therapeutic strategies offer absolute advantages in all aspects compared to tumor cell-targeted therapeutic strategies. It is essential to create a TME-responsive all-in-one nanotheranostic platform to facilitate individualized tumor treatment.

Leukemia is a malignant clonal disease of hematopoietic stem cells, which accounts for about 3% of the total incidence of tumors and is particularly prevalent among children and adolescents. It mainly includes four types of leukemia, namely ALL, AML, CLL, and CML, which are often aggressive and challenging diseases to treat. Several signaling pathways are dysregulated in almost all types of leukemia, such as JAK, PI3K, and MAPK, and others are dysregulated in specific types of leukemia, like Wnt/β-catenin, Hedgehog, FLT3, Bcr-Abl, and so on.
