Vietnam has made significant progress in reducing poverty over the past 30 years, yet cultural stereotypes about gender continue to hinder opportunities for women and girls, particularly in education and health care.
The study utilized surveys and interviews to explore the interplay of gender, ethnicity, and family beliefs, revealing that traditional gender roles impose heavy burdens on ethnic minority women, forcing them to balance work and family care.
Findings indicate that persistent cultural practices contribute to issues like child marriage and early pregnancies among girls, affecting their education and overall health, highlighting the need for change in societal attitudes.
