Introducing collaborative relay and simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) techniques into a cognitive wireless network, named the SWIPT-enabled cognitive relay network (CRN), is considered a promising approach to deal with insufficiency and the low utilization of spectrum resources, as well as the node's energy-constrained issues in wireless networks. In this paper, to improve the network spectrum efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE) of the SWIPT-enabled CRN, we design an energy-efficient adaptive bidirectional transmission strategy. To be specific, we first select an energy-constrained best relay node with the consideration of signal-to-noise ratio and global channel gain to achieve a better bidirectional relay transmission (BRT).

Selective enrichment and analysis of therapeutic antibodies in biological fluids are crucial for the development of biopharmaceuticals. Recently, peptide-based affinity chromatography has exhibited fascinating prospects for antibody enrichment due to the high affinity and specificity of small peptides. However, the post-modification approach of peptide ligands on the material surface is complicated and time-consuming.

Zwitterionic sulfobetaine-based monolithic stationary phases have attracted increasing attention for their use in hydrophilic interaction chromatography. In this study, a novel hydrophilic polymeric monolith was fabricated through photo-initiated copolymerization of 3-(3-vinyl-1-imidazolio)-1-propanesulfonate (SBVI) with pentaerythritol triacrylate using methanol and tetrahydrofuran as the porogenic system. Notably, the duration for the preparation of this novel monolith was as little as 5 min, which was significantly shorter than that required for previously reported sulfobetaine-based monoliths prepared via conventional thermally initiated copolymerization.

Cancer is one of the most severe health problems worldwide accounting for the second leading cause of death. Studies have indicated that cancers utilize different metabolic systems as compared with normal cells to produce extra energy and substances required for their survival, which contributes to tumor formation and progression. Recently, the fruit fly has been attracting significant attention as a whole-body model for elucidating the cancer mechanisms including metabolism.

The main objective of a Cooperative Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (CMIMO) system is to improve network throughput and network coverage and save energy. By grouping wireless devices as virtual multi-antenna nodes, it can thus simulate the functions of multi-antenna systems. A Space-Time Block Code (STBC) was proposed to utilize the spatial diversity of MIMO systems to improve the diversity gain and coding gain.

Retention of flesh texture attributes during cold storage is critical for the long-term maintenance of fruit quality. The genetic variations determining flesh firmness and crispness retainability are not well understood. The objectives of this study are to identify gene markers based on quantitative trait loci (QTLs) and to develop genomics-assisted prediction (GAP) models for apple flesh firmness and crispness retainability.

The rapidly increasing applications of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) in therapy have necessitated the development of mAb production and purification technologies for both academic and industrial usage. Herein, a histidine-tagged cyclic peptide (HHHHHHGSGSGSDC*AWHLGELVWC*T, the disulfide-bonded cysteines of which are indicated by asterisks, named HT25-cyclopeptide) functionalized monolithic material was developed by the metal ion chelation-based approach. The resulting material possessed suitable affinity and peptide ligand density (13.

Article Synopsis
  • * A deep neural network (DNN) is used to exploit these vulnerabilities by modeling how optical cryptosystems work, leading to an effective decryption system.
  • * Numerical simulations show that both the classical Double RPE (DRPE) and the more secure Tripe RPE (TRPE) can be compromised, allowing reconstruction of images not even in the original data set.

The rapid development of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) in therapeutic and diagnostic applications has necessitated the advancement of mAbs purification technologies. In this study, a biomimetic small peptide ligand 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoic acid-Arg-Arg-Gly (DAAG) functionalized monolith was fabricated through a metal ion chelation-based multi-step approach. The resulting monolith showed good chromatographic performance.

In this study, a novel functional monomer N-[1-(α-naphthyl)ethylaminocarbonyl]-D-tert-leucine-[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] amide (NA-D-tert-Leu-MA) was synthesized, and then employed to prepare polymeric monoliths (240 mm × 100 μm id) functionalized with tert-leucine derivative through a single step thermo-initiated co-polymerization approach or a multi-step post-modification approach. The multi-step approach involves the post-modification of a thiol-containing monolith with NA-D-tert-Leu-MA via "thiol-ene"click reaction. The physicochemical properties of the resulting monoliths were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry and micro-liquid chromatography.

The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between over-expression of the neuropilin 1 (NRP1) gene and growth, survival, and radio-sensitivity of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) cells. 3-[4,5-dimethylthylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyltetrazolium broide (MTT) and colony assays were then performed to determine the effect of NRP1 inhibition on the in vitro growth of NSCLC cells. The Annexin V-Fluorescein Isothiocyanate (FITC) apoptosis detection assay was performed to analyse the effect of NRP1 enhancement on apoptosis of NSCLC cells.

D-Aspartic acid (D-Asp) and D-glutamic acid (D-Glu) are currently paid attention as modulators of neuronal transmission and hormonal secretion. These two D-amino acids are metabolized only by D-aspartate oxidase (DDO) in mammals. Therefore, in order to design and develop new drugs controlling the D-Asp and D-Glu amounts via regulation of the DDO activities, changes in these acidic D-amino acid amounts in various tissues are expected to be clarified in model animals having various DDO activities.
