With the development and generalization of endoscopic technology and screening, clinical application of magnetically controlled capsule gastroscopy (MCCG) has been increasing. In recent years, various types of MCCG are used globally. Therefore, establishing relevant guidelines on MCCG is of great significance.

Effects of dietary metabolizable energy (ME) and crude protein (CP) level on performance, egg quality and biochemical parameters were studied in a dual-purpose chicken-Beijing You Chicken (BYC) at peak laying period. A 3 × 3 factorial experiment was arranged, including 3 levels of dietary ME (11.31, 11.

Myeloid differentiation factor 88 (Myd88) plays an important role in both innate and adaptive immune response. In this study, the full-length complementary DNA (cDNA) of myd88 from Misgurnus anguillicaudatus was characterized. The myd88 cDNA is 1333 bp in length and contains an 855 bp open reading frame encoding a predicted protein of 284 amino acids.

Straw returning to soil can supplement soil nutrients required for crop growth, fertilize soil, and improve soil quality. To explore the long-term effect of straw returning on soil total nitrogen and its composition, herein, five treatments including no rice straw + no wheat straw returning (NRW), no rice straw + all wheat straw returning (W), all rice straw + no wheat straw returning (R), half rice straw + half wheat straw returning (HRW), and all rice straw + all wheat straw returning (ARW) were conducted in triplicate in Taihu Lake region, China. The effects of both straw amount and type were examined.

TAMM41, located within the congenital heart diseases (CHD) sensitive region of 3p25 deletion syndrome, is a mitochondrial membrane maintenance protein critical for yeast survival, but its function in higher vertebrates remains unknown. Via in vivo zebrafish model, we found that tamm41 is highly expressed in the developing heart and deficiency of which led to heart valve abnormalities. Molecular mechanistic studies revealed that TAMM41 interacts and modulates the PINK1-PARK2 dependent mitophagy pathway, thereby implicating TAMM41 in heart valve development during zebrafish embryonic cardiogenesis.

The temporal distribution patterns of bacterial communities, as an important group in mountain soil, are affected by various environmental factors. To improve knowledge regarding the successional seasonal dynamics of the mountain soil bacterial communities, the rhizospheric soil of a 30-year-old natural secondary forest, located in the high-altitude (1900 m a.s.

Examining the variations of soil organic carbon mineralization at different altitudes is crucial for better understanding of soil organic carbon (SOC) dynamics. We selected the low altitude and high altitude broad-leaved forest soils in Wuyi Mountains as the research object, and incubated them under particular annual average temperature (17 and 9 ℃, respectively) in laboratory to investigate the difference of SOC mineralization characteristics. The results showed that the cumulative SOC mineralization had no significant difference between forest soils at low and high altitude in a 126-day incubation period under ambient temperature.

Transcriptional cofactor Vestigial-like 4 (VGLL4) was considered to take part in the early stage of development. Different from human, three paralogs of vgll4 were found in zebrafish, which were vgll4a, vgll4b and vgll4l. However, the expression patterns of the three paralogs during zebrafish development remains unknown.

Protein aggregation is associated with age-related neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's and polyglutamine diseases. As a causal relationship between protein aggregation and neurodegeneration remains elusive, understanding the cellular mechanisms regulating protein aggregation will help develop future treatments. To identify such mechanisms, we conducted a forward genetic screen in a C.

Background: Magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) is often used as a treatment for pre-eclampsia/eclampsia and preterm labor, resulting in the exposure of a significant number of neonates to this drug despite a lack of evidence suggesting that it is safe, or effective as a tocolytic. While there is evidence that MgSO4 may be neuroprotective in perinatal brain injury, recent reviews have suggested that the effects are dependent upon dose, and that higher doses may actually increase neonatal morbidity and mortality. There is a lack of evidence investigating the neurotoxic effects of neonatal magnesium (Mg) exposure on the developing brain, specifically in terms of neurodevelopmental apoptosis, a cell-killing phenomenon known to be potentiated by other drugs with mechanisms of action at Mg-binding sites (i.

Activation of protein C plays an important role in modulating coagulation as well as inflammation during severe sepsis. The baseline of activated protein C level in patients with severe sepsis showed interindividual variability between survivors and nonsurvivors, and the decreased level of protein C correlated with organ dysfunction and poor outcome. However, there are limited data concerning the genetic predisposition of individuals carrying two functional polymorphisms -1641A>G and -1654C>T within protein C gene to sepsis.
