Background: Wound infection after inguinal hernia surgery is not uncommon in the clinical setting. The common microbial aetiology of postoperative inguinal hernia wound infection is Gram-positive bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus is a common pathogen causing wound infection while Staphylococcus epidermidis and Pseudomonas are rare.

Soybean cyst nematode (SCN, Heterodera glycines Ichinohe) is one of the most devastating soybean pests worldwide. The development of host plant resistance represents an effective strategy to control SCN.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFNodule development directly affects nitrogen fixation efficiency during soybean growth. Although abundant genome-based information related to nodule development has been released and some studies have reported the molecular mechanisms that regulate nodule development, information on the way nodule genes operate in nodule development at different developmental stages of soybean is limited. In this report, notably different nodulation phenotypes in soybean roots inoculated with Bradyrhizobium japonicum strain 113-2 at five developmental stages (branching stage, flowering stage, fruiting stage, pod stage and harvest stage) were shown, and the expression of nodule genes at these five stages was assessed quantitatively using RNA-Seq.

They usually consist of intrathoracic and intraspinal parts, namely dumb-bell type. However, in some rare cases, they might display a bidirectional extraspinal growing pattern, compromising three components with intraspinal, intrathoracic, and subcutaneous parts, thus appearing to be shamrock-like.

XZ-01 of Camptotheca acuminate. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses, including 1H- and 13C-NMR, 2D NMR (HSQC, HMBC, 1H-1H COSY and NOESY) and HR-FT-MS.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe ZnWO(4) nanorods doped with cadmium ions have been successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal crystallization process. The products were characterized in detail by multiform techniques: X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results of the photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) in aqueous solution showed that cadmium ions doping greatly improved the photocatalytic efficiency of ZnWO(4) nanorods.
