Introduction: Palovarotene is a retinoic acid receptor gamma agonist that was studied in phase-2 and phase-3 clinical trials for the inhibition of new heterotopic ossification (HO) in fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). Despite numerous setbacks and regulatory delays, palovarotene is now the first approved FOP treatment in the U.S.

Methods: This cohort study was conducted using the JMDC claims database between May 2015 and April 2023. Patient characteristics, prescription and treatment patterns of anti-AChR and βA, and the incidence of AEs have been described.
Objectives: The aim of the present study was to determine the efficacy and safety of our newly developed ICG-assisted nerve-sparing (NS) robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) through subjective and objective data.
Methods: This study included 43 NS RARP patients, divided into ICG (23 patients) and non-ICG (20 patients) groups. Immunohistochemical staining with nNOS antibodies was conducted on specimens of resected prostate from the base, middle, and apex to count nNOS-positive cells.
Objectives: Seated voiding may be an attempt to obviate voiding dysfunction, improve physical stability during voiding, and prevent messy bathroom contamination. Therefore, we hypothesized that seated voiders had a higher prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), deteriorating health conditions, and a higher marriage rate than standing voiders.
Methods: Of the participants from the 2023 Japan Community Health Survey conducted by the Japanese Continence Society, 2936 men (mean age: 53.

Objective: Understanding the characteristics of falls among older adults is necessary to prevent them. These characteristics include questions such as when (month and time), where (places), who (age), what (injury), why (trigger), and how (direction) the falls occur. The objective of this study was to identify the characteristics of falls in individuals aged 65-74 years (young-old), 75-84 years (old-old), and ≥85 years (oldest-old).

Skeletal complications can develop even after minor trauma or an unknown cause, and management is difficult and sometimes unsuccessful, leading to the development of Charcot joints. We report 3 patients whose hip instability was treated with a hip action brace (HAB) that allowed for free abduction but prevented adduction.

Patients And Methods: A total of 30 patients who underwent RAPN were identified retrospectively. The parameters evaluated included patient characteristics, tumor diameter, MAP score, warm ischemic time (WIT), and renal function.
Objectives: As the role of segmentectomy expands in managing early-stage lung adenocarcinoma, precise preoperative assessments of tumor invasiveness via computed tomography become crucial. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of solid component analysis of three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography images and establish segmentectomy criteria for early-stage lung adenocarcinomas.
Methods: This retrospective study included 101 cases with adenocarcinoma diagnoses, with patients undergoing segmentectomy for clinical stage 0 or IA between 2012 and 2017.
Objectives: Desmopressin is widely used for nocturia in patients with nocturnal polyuria. We investigated the continuation rate and adherence for desmopressin in patients with overactive bladder and nocturia using a claims database and evaluated factors that improved adherence.
Methods: Patients with nocturia in a Japanese claims database who started desmopressin between September 2019 and July 2021 were evaluated.

Symptomatic neuroma represents a debilitating complication after major limb amputation. The regenerative peripheral nerve interface (RPNI) has emerged as a reproducible and practical surgery aimed at mitigating the formation of painful neuroma. Although previous animal studies revealed axonal sprouting, elongation, and synaptogenesis of proximal nerve stump within the muscle graft in RPNI, there is a lack of reports confirming these physiological reactions at the histopathological level in human samples.

The molecules responsible for recognizing mating partners, hypothetically called mating-type substances, are still unclear.

Bronchoscopy revealed a tumor near the left upper lobe branch entry that obstructed the lumen, and a biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of adenocarcinoma.

He had non-muscle invasion bladder cancer resected by transurethral bladder tumor resection seven years ago. Partial resections of the right upper lobe were carried out at the video assisted thracoscopic surgery (VATS) for diagnostic purposes.

The biradical was recovered from the adduct through recrystallization. Crystallographic analysis indicates that the torsion angles (|| ≤ 90°) between the benzene ring and nitroxide groups were 74.

This study aimed to review Japan's data on adrenocortical carcinoma by assessing information from 46 patients-with adrenocortical carcinoma across 10 Japanese university hospitals.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective multi-institutional analysis of the clinical characteristics of adrenocortical carcinoma in Japan.
Aim: To identify the risk factors for bruises and fractures from falls in patients with overactive bladder (OAB).
Methods: We evaluated 1136 patients with OAB and aged ≥50 years who visited our hospital. Age, sex, frequency of nocturnal urination, and urinary incontinence type were investigated in the 360 eligible patients.
Few studies have quantified longitudinal changes in swallowing in patients undergoing esophagectomy for esophageal cancer. This study longitudinally analyzed the changes in the Modified Barium Swallow Study Impairment Profile (MBSImP™) scores, swallowing kinematic measurements, and swallowing-related symptoms in patients undergoing esophagectomy. We also examined the association between identified swallowing impairment and aspiration pneumonia after surgery.

To evaluate genetic resources for wasabi breeding, we surveyed variations in the two most abundant isothiocyanate (ITC) components in wasabi, allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) and 6-methylsulfinyl (hexyl) isothiocyanate (6-MSITC, hexaraphane). We also examined the phylogenetic relationships among 36 accessions of wild and cultivated wasabi in Japan using chloroplast DNA analysis.
