Background: Although most pilocytic astrocytomas grow slowly, their progression in critical sites such as the brainstem or hypothalamus may prove fatal much more rapidly. Cystic progression may be more problematic than solid tumor. Patients with progressive cystic PAs located in eloquent deep areas of the brain are the best candidates for stereotactic radiosurgery.

Comparison of two treatment modalities in the management of gingival enlargement during orthodontic treatment: a randomized clinical trial.

Objective: This clinical trial aimed to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of diode laser gingivectomy, conventional gingivectomy, and nonsurgical periodontal treatment (NSPT) in the management of gingival enlargement (GE) during orthodontic treatment.

Materials And Methods: forty-five healthy, orthodontic patients with labial gingival enlargement on the 6 anterior teeth were selected and randomly assigned to one of the groups (Conventional, Laser, and NSPT). Clinical parameters including clinical crown length (CCL) , periodontal pocket depth (PPD), and vertical gingival overgrowth index (vGOi) were recorded at baseline, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months.

Biosystematic studies of genus Withania Pauquy in Egypt.

Withania (Solanaceae, Solanoideae) is a widespread genus. Comparative macro-, micro-morphological, anatomical, and molecular features of this genus in Egypt were examined using light and scanning electron microscopy to reassess the conflicted taxonomic relationships between the two studied species. The most significant morphological differences that have been found were: the shape of the lamina, apex, anther, and stigma, and the ratio of calyx tube/lobe; anatomical examination of taxonomic interest are as follows: number of vascular bundles, presence of ears and distribution of accessory vascular bundles in petiole and shape of spongy cells, and number of lower parenchyma in the midrib region of the leaf; trichomes of both species showed no significant differences; pollen, and seed characters are of taxonomic significance in differentiation and characterization between them.

Essential oils possess significant antimicrobial and antioxidant properties and are increasingly used as natural substitutes for food preservation. Therefore, this study investigated the potential application of rosemary essential oil (REO) and REO nano-emulsion in the dairy plant. The antimicrobial effects of REO and REO nano-emulsion were determined by an agar well diffusion assay after chemical profiling by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS).

Impacts of COVID-19-related service disruptions on TB incidence and deaths in Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Mozambique, and Peru: Implications for national TB responses.

Initial global-level estimates reported in June 2020 by the World Health Organization suggested that levels of disruption to TB service delivery could be as high as 25%-50% and result in an additional 6·3 million cases of tuberculosis (TB) and an additional 1·4 million TB-related deaths attributable to COVID-19 between 2020 and 2025. Quarterly epidemiological estimates and programmatic TB data capturing disruption levels to each TB service were collected by National TB Programmes in Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Mozambique, and Peru. Data from 2019, for a pre-COVID-19 baseline, and throughout 2020, together with the NTP's COVID-19 response plans, were used within Optima TB models to project TB incidence and deaths over five years because of COVID-19-related disruptions, and the extent to which those impacts may be mitigated through proposed catch-up strategies in each country.

We aimed to determine the levels of follicular helper T (Tfh) and follicular regulatory T (Tfr) cells in COVID-19 patients and determine whether their levels correlated with disease severity and presence of hyperglycemia. This study was carried out in 34 hospitalized COVID-19 patients and 20 healthy controls. Levels of total circulating Tfh, inducible T-cell costimulator (ICOS)+ activated Tfh, and Tfr cells were assessed in all participants by flow cytometry.

This investigation involved a comparative analysis of the small GTPase superfamily in super strain B compared to their analogues in leguminous and other non-leguminous species. The small GTPases superfamily members were recognized by tBLASTn searches. Manufacturing nano novel composites using sugarcane and eggshell as an alternative for producing nano green mortar.

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the impact of incorporating two different types of green nanomaterials (sugarcane and eggshell) on destructive and non-destructive properties of mortar. Nano sugarcane (NSC) was manufactured by calcining sugarcane at temperatures of 600 °C for 3 h. On the other hand, nano eggshell (NES) was manufactured by calcining eggshell at temperatures of 600 °C for 6 h.

Aim And Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of a light-induced fluorescence intraoral camera vs the visual-tactile assessment method according to the modified International caries detection and assessment system-II (ICDAS-II) criteria clinically in the detection of initial occlusal caries.

Materials And Methods: Occlusal surfaces of 260 molar and premolar teeth from 52 adult participants were examined by two calibrated observers, using two diagnostic methods. Teeth were initially assessed visually according to the criteria of the ICDAS-II, and then by fluorescence camera (Soprolife®).

Outcomes of Gamma Knife Surgery retreatment for growing vestibular schwannoma and review of the literature.

Objective: Gamma Knife surgery has become an accepted treatment for small to medium‑size vestibular schwannoma with a high rate of tumor control and good clinical outcome. When GKS treatment fails to stop tumor growth, GKS retreatment can be proposed in selected cases. This retrospective study examines the clinical and tumor control outcome after the second GKS retreatment for the same vestibular schwannomas.

Gamma Knife Management of Skull Base Chordomas: Is it a Choice?

Background: Skull base chordomas are locally invasive tumors which able to extend in different directions with skull base invasion. Although they are histologically benign, they have invasive nature makes total resection virtually impossible to achieve in most cases and this lead to residual tumors after surgery. To decrease postoperative surgical resection morbidity of these tumors, gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) was performed as alternative management for these residual chordomas to evaluate its safety and efficacy.
