Objective: In long-term care (LTC) for older adults, interviews are used to collect client perspectives that are often recorded and transcribed verbatim, which is a time-consuming, tedious task. Automatic speech recognition (ASR) could provide a solution; however, current ASR systems are not effective for certain demographic groups. This study aims to show how data from specific groups, such as older adults or people with accents, can be used to develop an effective ASR.

Purpose: To establish if virtual non-contrast (VNC) images generated from contrast-enhanced detector-based spectral CT could replace true non-contrast (TNC) imaging for the characterisation of adrenal masses.

Methods: TNC and VNC images were retrospectively reviewed for 39 patients with one or more adrenal lesions who underwent contrast-enhanced spectral CT of the upper abdomen. Lesions were categorised as either 'adenoma' or 'indeterminate/other lesion' based on current reference standards.

Multivariate risk models are commonly used in clinical practice to estimate a woman's lifetime risk for breast cancer and assist in implementation of appropriate screening and risk reduction strategies. More recently, breast cancer polygenic risk scores (PRS) have been derived and integrated into these models to further improve risk estimation. While breast cancer PRS have been offered by two clinical diagnostic laboratories since 2017, little is known about the extent to which genetic counselors are ordering breast cancer PRS or incorporating the results into patient management.

Aims: This study aimed to identify the frequency of sub-optimal pelvic binder placement at a tertiary-level trauma centre, produce a reproducible, quantitative measure of pelvic binder fit, and identify risk factors for sub-optimal placement.

Patients And Methods: We identified all consecutive patients who had a pelvic binder in place on arrival to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in Queensland, Australia from 2012-2016. The X-Rays were reviewed by two senior clinicians for position and measured for degree of displacement if not optimally placed between the greater and lesser trochanters.

Vineyard yield estimation provides the winegrower with insightful information regarding the expected yield, facilitating managerial decisions to achieve maximum quantity and quality and assisting the winery with logistics. The use of proximal remote sensing technology and techniques for yield estimation has produced limited success within viticulture. In this study, 2-D RGB and 3-D RGB-D (Kinect sensor) imagery were investigated for yield estimation in a vertical shoot positioned (VSP) vineyard.

Background: As survivorship care plan (SCP) use among childhood cancer survivors and their families has not been extensively researched, we report on their experiences with receiving an SCP after the completion of therapy.

Methods: Eligible patients had acute lymphoblastic leukemia, completed therapy, and had no evidence of disease at enrollment. Patients aged 7 or older (N = 13) and at least one parent (N = 23 for 20 total patients) were surveyed and completed assessments at enrollment (Time 1, T1), SCP delivery (Time 2, T2), and follow-up (Time 3, T3) (retention 90.

Introduction: Computed tomographic (CT) imaging is widely available in Australian rural and remote hospitals and is often performed prior to patient transfer to definitive tertiary hospital care. We hypothesised that critically ill trauma and neurosurgical patients might have CT scans repeated after interhospital transfer and that the utility of this practice might be low in relation to the additional financial cost and radiation exposure.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of clinical records to determine the proportion of trauma and neurosurgical patients transferred to our tertiary ICU from other hospitals between 1 June 2013 and 30 June 2014 who underwent a repeat CT scan.

We present an unusual and rare complication caused by gastric band erosion into the stomach after band placement 15 years ago. The complication was only picked up after the band had subsequently migrated from the stomach at the site of erosion, to the distal ileum causing acute small bowel obstruction and focal perforation requiring emergency laparotomy.Abdominal pain in patients with gastric band should always be treated as serious until proven otherwise.

Pachymeningeal enhancement, synonymous with dural enhancement, is a radiological feature best appreciated on a contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The vasculature of the dura mater is permeable, facilitating avid uptake of contrast agent and subsequent enhancement. Thin, discontinuous enhancement can be normal, seen in half the normal population.

Current guidelines recommend all pediatric cancer survivors receive a survivor care plan (SCP) for optimal health management, yet clinical delivery of SCPs varies. We evaluated oncology providers' familiarity with and preferences for delivering SCPs to inform the implementation of a future SCP program at our institution. From November 2013 to April 2014, oncology providers from the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT, completed a survey (n=41) and a 45-min focus group (n=18).

Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) remains one of the rarer forms of pancreatitis but has become increasingly well recognized and widely diagnosed as it is an important differential, particularly due to the dramatic response to appropriate therapy. It is now best considered as part of a multisystem disease and the notion of "IgG4-related systemic sclerosing disease" has become widely recognized as the number of extra-pancreatic associations of AIP grows. More recently AIP has been classified into two subtypes: lymphoplasmacytic sclerosing pancreatitis (LPSP) and idiopathic duct-centric pancreatitis (IDCP) with distinct geographical, age and sex distributions for the two subtypes, in addition to different pathological characteristics.

Although polyps of the extrahepatic biliary system are rare, an awareness of their potential existence is important as they may closely mimic choledocholithiasis clinically and radiologically but require distinct measures for successful management. This report describes the presentation and successful laparoscopic transcystic management of this infrequently encountered condition. It also explores the literature and discovers the numerous potential presenting features of common bile duct calculi and the spectrum of possible management options.
