This study evaluates the energy efficiency of an urban dairy farm in Tlemcen, Algeria, by assessing the feasibility of a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV)/wind hybrid energy system. Using HOMER and MATLAB software, the study explores the potential for replacing the farm's existing energy systems with a hybrid system integrated into a low-voltage electrical grid. The HOMER software determined the configuration that resulted in the lowest net present cost, energy cost in kWh, greenhouse gas emission mitigation, and renewable fraction (RF).

Introduction And Importance: Chondroosseous respiratory adenomatous epithelial hamartoma (COREAH) is a rare benign lesion of the nose and sinuses, with some cases reported in the literature.

Clinical Case: We present here a case of COREAH, in a woman whose clinical examination finds a polypoid mass in the left nasal cavity. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) confirmed the presence of a large mass in the anterior nasal cavity extended to the cranial cavity through the screened blade on the right side.

Haze factor of silver nanowires in variable refractive index environment: experimental and simulation approaches.

While silver nanowires (Ag NWs) have been demonstrated as a highly efficient transparent conducting material, they suffer from strong light scattering, which is quantified by a large haze factor (HF) in the optical spectrum. Here we investigate the influence of the dielectric environment on the light scattering of Ag NWs by comparing experimental measurements and simulations. In air, two peaks on the HF spectra are observed experimentally at the wavelength of= 350 nm and= 380 nm and are attributed by simulations to the influence of the Ag NWs pentagonal shape on the localized surface plasmon resonance.

Inorganic and Organic Selenium Speciation of Seleno-Yeasts Used as Feed Additives: New Insights from Elemental Selenium Determination.

Seleno-Yeasts (SY) used as feed additives are known to contain different Selenium (Se) species. Seleno-Yeasts has been shown, on previous analytical methods, to contain selenomethionine (SeMet), selenocysteine (SeCys), selenate (Se) and selenite (Se), and various other organic and inorganic Se forms identified but rarely quantified. A new advanced method has allowed elemental Se (Se), an inorganic Se species, to be quantified, thereby obtaining better insight into the proportion of inorganic Se in SY products.

Study of Gallium-Doped Zinc Oxide Thin Films Processed by Atomic Layer Deposition and RF Magnetron Sputtering for Transparent Antenna Applications.

Gallium-doped zinc oxide (GZO) films were fabricated using RF magnetron sputtering and atomic layer deposition (ALD). The latter ones demonstrate higher electrical conductivities (up to 2700 S cm) and enhanced charge mobilities (18 cm V s). The morphological analysis reveals differences mostly due to the very different nature of the deposition processes.

The role of 2-hydroxy-(4-methylseleno)butanoic acid (OH-SeMet), a form of organic selenium (Se), in selenoprotein synthesis and inflammatory response of THP1-derived macrophages stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) has been investigated. Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) activity, GPX1 gene expression, selenoprotein P (SELENOP) protein and gene expression, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production were studied in Se-deprived conditions (6 and 24 h). Then, macrophages were supplemented with OH-SeMet for 72 h and GPX1 and SELENOP gene expression were determined.

In order to achieve an attractive and differentiated product for the consumer and to optimize and to maximize profitability for the farmers within the EU Protected Geographical Indication "Carne de Ávila", 24 yearling males of Avileña-Negra Ibérica breed were used to evaluate the effect of 2 feeding systems, concentrate (CON) and maize silage (SIL), and 2 packaging systems, vacuum (VAC) and modified atmosphere (MAP), on fatty acid composition, proximate analysis, water holding capacity and consumer acceptability of meat in 2 muscles: (LT) and (ST). Animals fed with concentrate showed higher carcass weight. However, feeding did not affect the proximate analysis of the meat.

Epidemiological study of sausage in Algeria: Prevalence, quality assessment, and antibiotic resistance of isolates and the risk factors associated with consumer habits affecting foodborne poisoning.

Aim: The first aim was to assess the quality and determine the prevalence and antibiotic susceptibility of contamination of raw sausage sold in ten municipalities in the Northeast of Algeria. Second, a consumer sausage purchasing survey was designed to investigate potential risk factors that have a significant association with the occurrence of foodborne poisoning among sausage consumers' behavior and its relationship with independent variables.
