Unlabelled: Backgorund and aim: There are many studies on the effects of Diabetes Mellitus on the clinical course in COVID-19 patients. Factors that increase the risk of contracting COVID-19 disease and increase disease progression have been caused, and diabetes mellitus is one of them. We aimed to evaluate the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus in patients treated in the intensive care unit in respiratory failure due to COVID-19 pneumonia, and the effect of Diabetes Mellitus on the length of stay in intensive care and mortality.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how the COVID-19 pandemic affected physical activity, musculoskeletal pain, and mood among healthcare workers.
  • There was a notable reduction in physical activity levels during the pandemic, which correlated with increased feelings of unhappiness and anxiety among workers.
  • While regular physical activity was linked to higher happiness ratings, no significant relationship was found between exercise duration and musculoskeletal pain, possibly due to the high stress endured by healthcare workers during this time.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare minimal invasive locking plate and retrograde intramedullary nailing in the treatment of supracondylar femur fracture following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in respect of fracture healing, complications, and functional results.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was made of 32 supracondylar femur fractures comprising 20 cases treated with minimal invasive locking plate fixation and 12 with retrograde femoral nailing. The two techniques were compared in respect of range of motion (ROM), functional scores, intraoperative blood loss, surgery time, and radiological examination findings.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the traditional dual growing rod (TDGR) technique for treating early onset scoliosis, focusing on scoliosis correction, spinal growth, and lung volume changes.
  • In a prospective study involving 27 patients over three years, researchers found a 69.5% correction rate for spinal curves and an increase in lung space ratio, with low complication rates (9.6%) across 187 procedures.
  • The findings suggest that the TDGR technique, using only pedicle screws for fixation and frequent lengthening, is a promising option for managing scoliosis, despite the need for multiple surgeries.
